He’s signing on a free. Seems to have some potential but has lost his way. I’m happy enough with it. Roberts and Clarke weren’t exactly setting the world on fire before joining us where they?

Last season finishing 16th we scored 52 goals. The season before finishing 6th we scored 68 goals.

If we have non-scoring wingers how many goals are we going to get?
Our top scorer last seasn was a winger, year before that was a winger as well, one of which is still at the club and might well stay into next season, both wingers don't have to score 10+ and as I've already said we've now got a striker who can help fill the void of goals

I'd hope one of the 4 strikers we alrady have or the new one coming in, midfielders chip in with goals, hopefully the wingers contribute too but they don't need to be scoring 10+ a season like Clarke does (who might not even leave yet)
They do if you want to go up

Roberts is an awful example he doesn't score either

Almost this paragraph could have been written about Roberts when he signed.
Roberts had played more than 100 matches including one or two good loan spells, and some not so good. He also didn’t spend his youth bouncing from academy to academy. There are some vague similarities but there are more concerning signs with poveda imo.

Maybe not his youth but between two seasons at Celtic and signing for us he didn't spend longer than six months anywhere he went on loan.

City just won the league with Doku, Grealish and Silva all playing a massive role, none of them really scored very many

City have a striker who scores a goal a game, near enough, something we don't have.

With regard to Poveda, I thought he was promising in sub appearances for Leeds, less impressed by what I saw of him on loan.

roberts has had a lot of clubs and was in a couple of acadmeies but nothing compared with poveda..roberts joined SAFC when he was already older than poveda but not established...ie the upside was smaller.
