Iancarlo Poveda (now signed)

He literally played holding midfielder in his first game. Ba is a decent footballer who hasn't nailed down a position. Mundle will do better this season I'm positive of that
That was probably due to Mowbray knowing little about him and throwing him on in a game we were behind in. He wasn’t a holding midfielder.

Should never be signing players from other clubs in your division?
It doesn't seem logical signing the cast-offs from teams you want to be better than. Sign their good players by all means, but players that aren't good enough for them aren't going to make us better than them.

Presumably because he's not good enough for them. I don't know how we are going to compete with them when we sign their rejects, the lessons learned obviously don't include the signing of Hjelde.
Money. We can’t compete with Leeds due to money. Poveda is / was competing with Rutter (€34m), Gnonto, Sinisterra (€25m), Summerville so on and so forth. I don’t know how people don’t understand this. I’m not saying I think Poveda will kick us on but the reason we’re even considering it is because we don’t have the money to go out and spend £15m on a winger to compete with the talent Leeds have. We’ve picked up a gem in Clarke but he’s streets ahead of any of our other wingers.

What's our ambition then ? Just stay mid-table forever ? The owner needs to speculate, because hoovering up free transfers and hoping for the best isn't going to work. We should always be competing when we are in this league imo, not settling for being also rans.

Once we bring in more money I think you’ll see us spend more money. We have only received 1 transfer fee of any note since KLD got here and they have told everyone the aim is to run the club sustainably. What they are doing is making sure our prized assets are on good contracts so when the time comes we get the best money for them. I don’t believe they are going to go out and spend and spend without selling anyone first.

I don't either but I was hoping they'd spend a bit. I don't expect them to spend £15m on anybody, but with good recruitment they could get some good players in the £3-£4m bracket. I must admit I know nothing about this lad but he's a 24 year old winger who's scored 4 goals in his career, it's not a good sign.
