Holloway's management after squad assessment having positive effect (as I intimated).
Two from 20th to 24th (in tonight's table) look favourites for bottom two to me, I reckon Carlisle have blown it and Williamson will be binned soon because they can't score so have nothing to defend and the odd 0-0 draw won't be enough. Stanley, Morecambe & Harrogate are competing to join join them. Calm yourself down Swindon, Ollie as he's known in the game will save you.

It will, Carlisle will spend but attracting the players they need up there is the problem they always have. Added to the fact other clubs will be after the worthwhile available lge2 relegation fighting players. A lot depends on the manager's contacts & how long the owners will allow him. There's apparently quite a bit playing wise to sort out plus Jon Mellish will also now be missing for a game or two.

Despite being critical of Swindon they have sufficient quality to stay up.
Holloway definitely getting a better tune out of them and playing less possession based football. Far better off the ball.
The League is a very poor standard this season.

They probably do have enough quality, the Carlisle natives are restless & their next game v Acc is likely to be the game that does for Carlisle if they don't win it. Reports suggest the Williamson football is very poor so unlikely to get a goal or result. Posession square football is likely to be his downfall because they don't go anywhere with it so when the ball is given away & a goal goes in that's it. The division may be a poor standard but it's all about doing enough to survive and when Carlisle blow the dog eat dog games they have little to no chance of getting out of it. There may be new money there but the owner will likely to want a manager to do something quickly with it which always leads to the inevitable. Arguably a Holloway is the type they'd be looking at to save the season.

Why would anyone want to buy a lower league club?
Definitely the key objective is staying in this league, dropping down would be a disaster.

How ironic I’ve booked advanced Carlisle train tickets tonight.

Buy cheap, make money, Football is a by-product of merchandising to fans who will always buy club things. Even when they drop out of FL the chances of being in a promotion battle ups their sales. A few club owners have taken that stance.

There's always a distinct chance of snow, blizzards, or flooding around the Brunton Pk area. Not to worry, there'll be a smile on faces if Williamson has bitten the dust - but then who do they get next after they got shot of Simmo a while back :lol: If the game's off there are some lovely mountains to fill your time and if you go to Keswick you might run across former manager Greg Abbott unless he's got the job again :D

One of my favourite away days is Carlisle as it’s a decent train journey with an opportunity to have a few beers.
A few years back we were in a carriage having a right laugh, beers flowing. A few other younger Swindon were in the same carriage.
A works party got on at Warrington, all ages and were on a session getting off at Oxenholme.
What a laugh. All age groups, young lasses, older lads and it was like one big party.
Accents, Laughter, Booze flowing. They didn’t want to get off 🤣🤣
Always remember the bloke organising said, “What Saturdays should be all about.” It was just like a reunion.

Cumbria's a good day out, especially if you get mountain snow scenery although it doesn't help with the roads & traffic. I won't tell your lass about the train merriment if you don't ;)

Keep an eye on thae Glasgae fella mind, they're a bit volatile when drink flows. If he wants a fight direct him to the Beehive pub across the road from Brunton. :lol:

The statue itself is stunning and paid for by the Trust.

The surface around it an absolute shambles, sand and already flooded and scuffed up. Paid for by the scum owners, an absolute embarrassment.
On a lighter note it is now noted that this is deliberate as it resembled the Wembley pitch on that famous 1969 day.

I'm a manager at the company that made the granite plinth! We had hoped they would have had enough in the budget to do more with the landscaping. Apart from surrounds, we're really pleased with how it all turned out.
