You said he should stay in to make it look like we had a plan, not the biggest vote of confidence in the world

He's proved me wrong.

I can find more posts where I said he should be backed at 6, but I dont want to embarass more posters than I already have

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

The saffers have played this test with no Steyn and a half fit Kallis and we never came close to putting pressure on them. This is going to be a long series

You posted that after the first and what happend next, we won by an innings.

We weren't outplayed in Cape Town either, we were right in it until a rank bowling performance in the 2nd innings. (Big match Broad match figures, 1-133)

13 wickets @ 33.46 with economy of 2.80 over the series.

comfortably outbowled Jimmy

He's improved a hell of a lot from 2-3 years ago and seems to have his head right. His form is great.

Almost everyone (myself included) thought back then Bell should be out the side as he was the weakest batsmen at the time and we were looking to go to 5 batsmen and get another bowler in the team.

To quote EB from then "I would stick with the same side as we have nobody in the ranks out there who is going to come in and make any difference". Hardly glowing support for Bell.

Exactly. You pick your best 11 and stick with them which is the point I was trying to make then. He was amongst the best 11 and still is

Worse than Jimmy's career average, which you've said is not good enough.

your average will alwyas be slightly higher away from home because you are playing on different surfaces to what you are use to
