Striker
Scored unbeaten centuries in each of his innings in Warwickshire's last game, followed that up with what is currently an unbeaten century in the current game against Kent.

Only made 4 in the first innings mind, which means his current aggregate, since being dismissed for 61 the game before this remarkable run is:

327-1

Just in time to play us

I wonder if a break from international cricket has done him good and he is worth another shot?

Let’s be honest, there aren’t many alternatives
If it has it took a long time to happen, last Test Nov 2015. But to be honest I've been wondering that, would never have him at 3 though.

He's already scored an unbeaten 145 against us at The Riverside this season in the 50 Overs.

Can just see him and Trott putting on 300 in front of 150 hardy souls wrapped in tartan rugs at about 9.05pm on Monday night.

Read an interesting article the other week where he said last winter was the first in 17 (iirc) where he's not played any cricket overseas. Attributes that period of rest as the main factor in refocusing his mind. Think the century in the first innings of their last game was his first in about 2 years, now he's had 3 in 4 innings.

Still don't think he's the answer for England, think we have to look at other fresher faces before his, but there won't be any complaints from me if he's given a chance.

Still rank his hundred at CLS in the Ashes Test as one of the finest innings I've witnessed in person. It was pure class.

Think its just come a year too late. They would have wanted to pick him last year if he had form.

He is such a quality player, one of the best players in England in my life time. Underrated by so many.

I'd have him at number 5 for England in a heartbeat, but I am in a minority.

Where do stokes buttler etc fit in with this suggestion

We might need to take a look at Roy or Hales (again), given they look world beaters in the 50 over stuff. They play proper cricket shots and look confident. I know it's not the same, playing tests, but we're hardly spoilt for choice.

I thought this a while ago. But I'd never put them in as opener in Tests, but if there's an opening lower down then I'm all for it.

Jennings going well this season, bodes well.

Hopefully not before Burns, Clarke and Foakes are looked at........

Ollie Pope is the inform player

Roy has the ability as he can play proper shots in the middle order

Others to try first though
