Hume Hybrid Role

So why aren’t all the other players the same they all get judged on the same metrics , we sign players based on their stats why can’t we judge our own by them ???
I love the old metrics like anybody but just saying Hume has the lowest pass % isn’t instructive in itself (like most stats)

You need to know how many passes he’s attempting, where on the pitch they are and what role he’s being to play

Agreed stats will be used by the club, so perhaps take that into mind when we see RLB keeps picking Hume? He’s started almost all games this season

As I said to another poster, I think Hume is just about first to go if I’m improving the first team, but simply saying he had a poor pass % isn’t that instructive

Can’t wait for Xhaka to come back and this experiment to end. I do rate Hume, but needs to stick to what he’s best at.

The point I’m making stands for every week

The poster is right in that he has a poor pass %, but that in itself doesn’t mean much unless we have additional information about what he’s being asked to do and how many touches he has and passes he’s attempting

I say this as somebody that thinks Hume isn’t cut out for the level we’re pushing towards
I get that, but Hume isn’t in the team to create so it’s not like he’s there to play high risk passes, he regularly fails to complete more passes than other players on the pitch despite having fewer attempts suggesting he’s not on the ball as much. That’s why footmob etc compare against similar players

Yes I agree (haven’t checked the attempts stat). But obviously RLB knows this and keeps playing him. I think we could improve on him for sure, I just don’t think posting his pass % as the other poster seems to do a lot recently is that instructive

Mate what on earth are you watching I can think of at least 4 times off the top of my head he went past him and put a cross in just by slowing down then accelerating past him

Honestly lad thought you had piped down about this Hume crap you spout you really are making a complete tit of yourself.
No doubt you sat today hoping he would have a mare.
But as normal he didn’t let side down, was part of a team which put in a decent account of themselves, and better finishing maybe would have been a bit closer.
Arsenal will win league by 10+ points no shame in getting beat of them today and the fact we took a well deserved point at home with Hume having another excellent game against them that night 👍 have a night off man.

The Hume is shite brigade are gutted he had a decent game. They sound like mags, but, but we were only playing Burnley.

Aye well we were paying very good sides earlier in the season when we were picking up wins and draws with Hume playing in various different roles 🙂
What do you reckon today then? I usually agree with most of what you say and think you have a good football eye, but this Hume system doesn't work most of the time.

He hasn't got the ability to both attack and defend, they're asking too much of him and wingers are having his life. He doesn't contribute enough in terms of dangerous balls into the box and he won't score in a month of Sundays.

He was good today..

In fact he's been good more games than he's not been this season..

For someone who's been with us since League 1 and still only 23 I'm surprised to see so many people pick him as a boo boy..

I don’t think anyone thinks he’s shite. It’s just in this more advanced role he’s playing, there are areas of his game that are glaringly not good enough. Doesn’t help that he has geertruida behind him who excels at those things.

I’ve been a huge supporter of his the whole time he’s been here and I think he’s stepped up pretty well. I just think his weakness on the ball is a problem. It’s an area that is far behind the rest of the team and the players we’ve brought in.

If we just want “solid”, “doesn’t let us down”, “ran his socks off” then yeah he’s great. At the moment though, we’re hearing noises from the camp about wanting to push on, so carrying someone who gives the ball away 1 in 3 attempts is frustrating. Especially if he’s playing further forward in midfield or on a wing.

I don’t want rid, I don’t think he’s shite. I just don’t think he should be one of the first names on the team sheet week in week out. I think there are better options.

Omg I’ve posted all the other stats man over 90 mins in all games this season

He has the 3rd highest rating of all our outfield players on Flashscore & whoscored.com for the match today.. higher than Le Fee, Diarra, Sadiki, Talbi..
He was tidy in possession and put a great cross in the box that should of done netter with..

I really don't think Geertruida has look miles ahead to honest.. if he did he'd be playing more. I think a lot of people just have blinkers on with shiny new signing instead of the guy who came from League 1.

Geertruida will likely not stay past this season anyway so I'd rather develop Hume who's a few years younger and likely willing and wanting to spend most his career here.

Tidy in possession ??? he had the worst pass completion on the team 69%
Had a good game against Burnley too
Clues in Burnley mate Anthony pattison could of played on the wing

Them match ratings are a joke mind I wouldn’t be looking into them to judge how a player performed

Disagree. We aren’t asking Hume to play hollywood balls or trying to thread a ball through the eye of a needle like Xhaka
And Le Fee are capable of. He just isn’t a great passer of the football he never has been, And now he’s playing in midfield and receiving the ball in a different bidy position etc he’s giving it away even more,

I dont care what position you play or what your instructed to do on a football pitch if you keep giving the ball away the penny had to drop and the player really has to take accountability.

Are you reading my posts? I know he has poor passing stats and think he’s one of the first to chop from the starting XI if we want to improve
