Hume Hybrid Role

Really can’t see your problem with him,
Or the system we are playing, having watched us for over 50 years got too say, it’s up there with the best defence we have ever had.
And like it or not Hume is a big part of it.
I don’t have a problem with him playing as an orthodox fullback I think we can improve more by having someone who’s better in that position and can do a bit at both ends of the pitch and chip in with a few goals. You can’t afford to have 60/70% pass completion against the big teams you will get punished
Hume in this hybrid role gives us an extra man in midfield while our most effective winger is marauding up and down from full back. Typically he is only marked by an attacker while the fullback follows Hume.

Mukiele has added another dimension to our play since he moved to full back.
He wasn’t playing any hybrid role last night man he was wide right covering mukelele when he overlapped which is what any player would do if the full back was getting forward that much

His role last night was to play right midfield and cover mukiele when he goes forward , it was nowt like how he’s previously been set up against the bigger teams, why the fuck would we have him or us playing at any stage a back 5 against Burnley

Your talking as if this is revolutionary man any wide midfielder is expected to come back and defend when your backs are against the wall
The opposition is irrelevant. If we were struggling and they wete putting on pressure he would revert to 5 where needed. It's not the opposition it is the state of the play/how's things unfold in any given game. Hume and the manager would suddenly think nah, it's only Burnley so not going to react accordingly

You've tried that once before. And had it explained to you by a few posters now. Its not a case of a RM covering for a full back. That is arandaed enough. Its having the ability to have your RM become the full back and full back move scross into CM role. That has happened plenty as is why he keeps getting picked. Simple as that.

Correct.
Hume is pivotal to this team, him playing in that hybrid role allows Mukiele to give us width ,Enzo and Diarra to get closer to Brobbey and with Talbi playing a bit narrower from the left we have a real goal threat now. When we are out of possession Hume makes a back five, Reg has either had a stroke of genius or stumbled on masterplan that improves us no end.
Nah, apparently it is standard.

That's a different debate all together.

Do you think RLB and his coaching staff would not pick the best player for this role from our squad based on what they see in daily training sessions ?
I personally think it’s Humes defensive qualities, pace and his ability to get box to box that gets him the nod, yes he is not the most gifted technically and in an ideal world we would have maybe a Declan Rice but we haven’t.
Would you say it is working ?
As your stats should tell you apart from the Man City and the West Ham shambles we have not really been punished by anyone.
We are currently after 24 games the 3rd best defence statistically in probably the best league in the world.

What you even watching man he has no pace whatsoever he’s been dribbled past 19 times this season as opposed to Reinaldos 6 for example

So he has lost the dribbling cup well fook me, I heard it all now 😆
As a team, which he plays a massive part, after 24 Premier League games
Only 3 teams have conceded less.
Only 3 teams have lost less games.
Can you answer 1 simple question?
Is the defensive system set up working yes or no ?
Thanks thought so 👌

If Hume plays in this role he’s not good enough for against good sides….we will lose badly at Arsenal and he’ll be subbed at half time, and we will sadly lose our home record against Liverpool and he’ll be subbed off after say an hour.

June is a great player but he’s a squad player for a top half PL side. Gerty wow is a starter for Holland and doesn’t get a kick currently. Madness. It has already cost us, West Ham are gash for example, but because we’ve done so well fans don’t want to challenge selection.
