Hume Hybrid Role

He’s cutting in from both sides

I never said Hume was a right winger your talking shite I said I can’t wait to see a right winger out there , he’s only playing there out of necessity every wide player winger or wide midfielders job is to cover their fullback man it’s basics he won’t be in the team when traore is fit
He is, and he's cutting in from the left a lot more than the right. Just admit it. You said we'd signed a right winger. He isn't a right winger. He's predominantly been a left winger. That's just a fact. He could be deployed in the right (I mean he definitely will play on the right, according to you, so that's good to know).

Nope. You are full of it, backtracking and moving goal posts constantly. Doing nowt and looking lost to he had a solid game, all on the same page

Correct, he isn't a winger. And isn't being played as one. Yet you said he stands on the touchline doing nowt. Wingers hug touchlines in case you didnt know. What you arguing now like, he was picaed as a midfielder and ignored that and just stood out wide? I think you were watching a different gane as he was inside right and coming into the middle, and allowing our RB to go outside.
I don’t gamble

You paint it like he just rolls around the pitch.
A knar

he done a job last night against a poor team he still out of position for me and it’s not guna work every week , will get tortured if he plays their next week at arsenal imo but we will see, if this new winger comes straight in a think talbi will move to the right

Watching highlights, he has a very good game as our captain.

Young lad from Ireland. Premier League and International team captain. What a signing he has been.

Unlucky not to score again with that half chance on the volley.

Thing is people want an out and out winger to replace him. I'd suggest going to Arsenal with an out and out instead leaves us more vulnerable and likely to get tortured. I'd be amazed if he isn't in the 11.

Longer term, if we are looking to get more of a threat going forward we will need to move things around more, trying not to jeapordise being solid defensively and hard to beat.

What have you goto say about his 71% pass completion the worst of any midfielder

Random, and a further movement of the debate.... but now we appear to be arguing if he's as good as other midfielders now, which im not and never have given the type of player he is, but lets go with it....

I would say that probably means he wasn't as good a passer as some of our other midfielders yday. You got any other stats for him by comparison?

he had a great game last night but let's not pretend Burnley weren't hopeless. we'd have won that game with 9 men on the pitch

against better teams he just should not be playing in any sort of midfield role

Was the second lowest in the team behind Brobby

Hume is consistently one of our worst performers in terms of passing accuracy. Even worse than players like Talbi that you'd expect to lose the ball more
Id expect wider players to lose the ball more as trying to beat people. I'd not expect their pass completion to be worse by default.
I can live with that. Good at tackling though isn't he. 200k.
He's much better than Talbi at tackling. Seen as though we are now just being completely random.

Against better teams we look to be more solid/defensive. Who is coming in ahead of him currently to make us more so? Genuine question.

Personally, over time, I think we will look to improve, as we presumably look to be a little more creative whilst remaining hard to beat. However, as it stands, and the way we play/set up, he's more than capable.

Generally the further forward you go, the worse it gets as the players need to take riskier and riskier options on the ball to make things happen

Hume isn't particularly secure in terms of passing accuracy % but he quite obviously brings a lot particularly tactically, which is why RLB plays him in basically every game possible. He clearly understands what RLB wants in each phase of play and generally does it pretty well

So you're not going to give him any credit for last night because they're a poor team, but you'll rip him to bits if he doesn't play well against the league leaders?

Great logic.

Id argue Hume is still getting better every game in this league. Can’t write him off because his passing stats aren’t as good as some very good midfielders, whilst he’s playing in a new position in his first season of PL football.

He did nothing wrong yesterday, tracked back and got forward when needed. Unlucky not to score a goal.

Gives 100% and almost flattened their keeper too.
