Hull City

I agree and I think I know why. There's something not right about people who live in the fog, speak Yorkshire but only use 15 letters of the alphabet. Grunting fog beasts, yes that's accurate.
That’s definitely a valid reason like. Along with imitating tigers pawing for milk.

I THINK I can attribute it to a lad I knew from New Zealand who loved them and was proper partisan and always on about them v us(we went down they stayed up 🤮).

Them signing Burstow for what, £6m, was a great moment for me

Worked in Hull back in the 90s and generally the locals were great. The football club just felt a bit.... Fake?
I worked there mid 90s to 2004 and always thought rugby league was the main sport with football an afterthought. They built the new stadium and City seemed to get more attention.
I didn’t mind them until Steve Bruce went there, and he was popular after slagging us off.
Now I am not that bothered about them even though I have several friends who are City fans. They are not confident about the club’s future.

They tried to force a bit of a rivalry in the noughties when they started having the odd season in the prem. A lad I knew from uni was banging on about them nearly being 'the highest placed North East team' - which I suppose geographically they are a NE team but no one ever adds them into the conversation.

After the play off final he sent me a message saying "we've had our rivalries but..." which I don't agree with in the slightest :)

Sounds an odd one. The highest placed Yorkshire team was definitely a thing at the time but never heard anyone say we're from the north east apart from clueless southern journalists!

Fuck em. Call me a plastic but the local non league scene will be getting my business next season. Not paying some crook to watch my club get stuffed every week. Useless ****.

Does @East Yorkshire City still get on here? Pennies for your thoughts please as you seemed to think things were fine a while ago?

I did the same a couple of seasons ago when we getting trounced every week under Beale/Dodds and it was basically a guarantee we couldn't go down.

Did about 20-30 non-league games in half a season - enjoyed it.

Always enjoy my non league days out so will be no hardship. Proper football and decent beer. No stress either.

Book a holiday with the money I'll save. Not to Turkey though

Burstow is rank like. Thought they were quite unlucky with injuries mind, sure Millar and that Belloumi (?), who looked decent against us, got season ending injuries within days of one another

I always felt they were punching above their weight in their premier league days about a decade ago

Reading, Wigan similar

I guess people might look back at Bournemouth and Brentford being in the top flight in a similar way if their bubbles burst

Patience is a rare thing among fans. “Daring to dream” doesn’t feel so smart now.

Calm and careful with a bit nous does it. Unless the world is going to end, in which case there’s bigger things to worry about than football, there’s always going to be a next season to try and get things right. Can’t understand this wild impatient approach to throw the kitchen sink at things and risk your financial stability just to try and get it right now this instant. Which is why even if we went down this coming season, big deal. Dust ourselves off and get on with it and try and get it right again the following August. Life is full of ups and downs and so is football, there’s absolutely no need to risk things in this sort of way by stretching way beyond your means.

The Hull owner actually did an interview on Monday with the fans where they did a bit of a meet the manager thing. The owner was claiming all was fine and they had ambitious plans this season… then today it comes out that they have a transfer embargo. My father in law (Hull city fan) isn’t surprised…. Apparently last season the owner payed the players late a few times claiming that it was an administrative issue…. Seems more like this could be a slowly going into administration issue tbh
