Hardly a surprise given the geography, I’ve always found that blokes from the likes of Accrington/Burnley/Bolton have a very broad and defined Lancastrian accent - noticeably different to Mancunian, which although is clearly the central hub of Lancashire, has its own accent entirely (in my experience).

The difference between Manchester accents and Lancashire accents are as noticable as the difference between Sunderland & Ashington.
It's like any other area though, there are also big regional variations between areas like Bolton & Blackburn that aren't as obvious to non locals. When I first moved up here in the 1970's then Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham all sounded the same to me, it's only when you've been 'assimilated'
that you start pick up on the differences.
