I accidentally deleted a folder that was too big for the recycle bin.
The folder contains a lot of important files.

Is there a way to recover it?

It was on my desktop if that helps

how did you manage that then? surely if you tried to delete it , a warning should have come up :
1- do you want to delete this file ( or whatever)
2) this file is too big for the recycle bin, do you want to delete it anyway ?
you had 2 chances & still deleted it ?? ( or i am missing something ?) if im not, well thats a special kind of stupid right there !! happy new year btw

You are 100% correct. It’s a special kind of stupid. I was clearing out my emails and dragged an email into a folder then clicked delete (thinking I was still on the email) them clicked confirm......

I can see why it’s funny but the stuff on that folder is very important and I need it

Stop using the computer right away. This way you’ll reduce the risk of overwriting the areas marked for deletion.

Get yourself a copy of Recuva. Preferably download it on a separate pc and save to a usb. You may get some files back, maybe all of them if you’re really very lucky.

it’s a work laptop and do anything I plug on has to be cleared through IS

It’s a folder on my desktop. It has various excel files, word documents and pdf’s
Basically I’m in the shit if I don’t fix this
Open the programme the doc uses, excel, word etc. Click file and the document might be listed there. Try opening it if you see it.
Or take your computer back in time to just before you deleted it. Not in a back to the future way

safcforever data not so much.

turn it off. ask your it department to sort it out. dont start intalling stuff (or trying to) from the internet, booting your machine to recovery tools or anything, it'll just make their job harder.
