How the Europa League works

Scraped my brain off the walls after reading this thread and then trying to work out how a UEFA ranking coefficient works

Mags are 73rd is about all I could manage.

What do we need do to be crowned North East UEFA coefficient Top Dogs?
 

The Stranglers are touring France in late Nov/Early Dec
If matchday 5 or 6 is an away game in France, I may be tempted to make a week of it and catch a couple of gigs while I'm there

Format​


The qualifying phase will be split into two paths – the Champions Path and the Main Path. The Champions Path contained teams which were eliminated from the , and the Main Path contained teams which qualified as the third-placed or the fourth-placed team from their domestic league or as domestic cup winners. The paths will be merged in the play-off round.
Each tie will be played over , with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scores more goals on aggregate over the two legs will advance to the next round. If the aggregate score is level at the end of normal time of the second leg, will be played, and if the same number of goals is scored by both teams during extra time, the tie will be decided by a .
In the draws for each round, teams will be seeded based on their at the beginning of the season, with the teams divided into seeded and unseeded pots containing the same number of teams. A seeded team will be drawn against an unseeded team, with the order of legs in each tie decided by draw. As the identity of the winners of the previous round may not be known at the time of the draws, the seeding will be carried out under the assumption that the team with the higher coefficient of an undecided tie advances to the subsequent round. In practice, this means if the team with the lower coefficient advances in the Europa League or the team with the higher coefficient is eliminated from the Champions League, it will simply take the seeding of its opponent.
Prior to the draws, UEFA could form "groups" in accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee, purely for the convenience of the draw and not to resemble any real groupings in the sense of the competition. Teams from associations with political conflicts as decided by UEFA can not be drawn into the same tie. After the draws, the order of legs of a tie can be reversed by UEFA due to scheduling or venue conflicts.

All teams eliminated from the qualifying phase and play-off round enter the :

  • The 6 losers of the Main Path first qualifying round enter the .
  • The 9 losers of the Main Path second qualifying round enter the .

Lovely Chippie near the Johnny Rocks Stadium in Cheltenham and a park nearby to eat them in afore the Match.......What has Sociedad Got to offer.?!?!?!? Paella?.....Not that I would get a Ticket for any of European Adventure Away Matches but funnily enough, quite easily got one for Cheltenham Town Away and watch Alfie May scored their Winner. 😎

I am sure Sunderland's own Baz Warne would give ya a lift to the Game........Cracking Idea though Sunna....I'll be checking out the European Gig list when our fixtures become known at the End of August. 😎

Real Sociedad play in the gastronomic hotspot that is San Sebastian in the Basque country. Loads of little places doing pintxos (the Basque equivalent of tapas).

As you'll see you gain less in the EL, we'd pretty much need to have a season like Villa did in the EL to overtake the Mags in one year

Not sure if this is covered but I thought some teams knocked out of Champions League get entry into europa. Is that not the case.

Well theoretically playing more teams in lower pots is an advantage
We can get the 2nd division Portuguese team that did a Wigan if you want to feel like going to Cheltenhak again.

It’s going to be such a long time before we can properly start to speculate on who we will play. To date only 12 teams have qualified for the league phase.
