How much we got to spend next year?

O’Nien will stay as fifth choice CB I expect. Cirkin is out of contract so no money there but I’d expect 17m or so for Adingra, 12m or so for Isidor and in excess of 25m for Talbi if he were to go. He’s got massive potential. I don’t think he will leave though.

You tell me! It’s the others on here who are wanting top notch players one minute then suggesting we sell them. I am all for keeping virtually them all. Players like Hume, Ballard, Muckieke, etc. But so many have reeled off name after name who they feel should go. If you can’t beat them, join them. If you can’t convince people of your side of things then change your opinions. Works for me.

If you want to know who is wanting Brobbey to go then look no further than @Julio Mackemo.

We supposedly had a 100m budget in January and spent about £20m. So not sure how that works in terms of being added to the Summer budget?

Suspect we will sell 1 or 2 regulars max. If the buying club are offering big wages, we’ll struggle to keep. We will hopefully shift plenty of waste from the background squad.
 
Dunno, let’s have a proper go at it. Could be miles off like, but I’ve had a good look around the web to see what other clubs have brought in and what we’re expected to earn.

Mid table finish: +£135m
Gate receipts: +£15m
Sponsorship: +£20m
Hospitality: +£15m
Retail: +£5m

That’s £190m coming in, which is about right. Could even be a bit more. Leicester brought in £186m last season. Take away the footballing expenses relevant to SCR.

Player wages: -£63m
RLB wages: -£2m
Agent fees: -£11m

That leaves you with £114m.

Going by the 85% rule for SCR:

£96.9m available to spend on transfer fees before outgoings. I think it might be a bit more, so let’s say around £100m net spend, and we can go slightly above or below that really.

@Grumpy Old Man does this look about right, do you reckon? I haven’t factored in amortisation because that’s got five syllables and I’m scared.

Amortisation will be around £40m I reckon, and needs to be added to wages. Agents fees are rolled into contract costs when giving the asset value on a player purchase/contract renewal, so they can be excluded. Player wages look low. I'd say around £75m (you need to add employers NI and pension costs to the base salary). I'm pretty sure Burwell said we were looking at around £200m revenue. That gives £200m revenue, so a spending limit of £170m. Current costs look like they're around £117m. That gives us £52m for additional amortisation and wages. If we make transfer profits, that gives us more headroom.

How much that translates to in terms of a transfer budget depends on the length of contract and wages of each player. A base salary of say £50k/week, translates to about £3m once you add on employers NI. If you recruit on a 4 or 5 year contract, then amortisation is a quarter or a fifth of fee + agents + any other acquisition costs. On the guesses above that probably gives a broad brush tranfer budget of £100-150m before any transfer profits

Cheers for that. 100-150m will do very nicely. Seems to be all set up for us to keep improving.
 
What we spend in the summer will depend on outgoings. I'd fully expect us to bring in approx 100m in player sales, so I would expect us to be spending 100m at least.

We aren't going to see a huge net spend like this season that's for sure.

Could see a few teams looking to spunk money to try and improve their fortunes like.

Chelsea, Spurs (if they stay up like) and Palace will all feel like they should be doing better. London clubs too.

I always wonder why some of our fans obsess about how much money we spend. Spending £200m is not the bit you should be getting a twinge over. Getting Aldarete and Roefs for £10m each shows what can be done when the scouting and recruitment are done well. On the other hand £30m for Diarra doesn't look like such a good deal at the moment (i'm still hopeful he might eventually show what he is capable of).

If you look back at our most expensive signings previously like Ndong and Rodwell *shudder* they've been nowhere near what we'd hoped for the money spent. On the other hand arguably our best ever signing (until Xhaka) was £325k! I'm not interested in how much we spend as long as we spend it well. There's no denying the club seem to have a plan and so far it's going better than any of us envisaged when KLD arrived. Long may it continue. HTL

Agree, like I intimated if a top 6 club or a big club in Europe comes in with more cash, players will go imho. As that is the model we have currently, whether we like it or not. It's like Brighton or Brentford..... words for them.
 
Doubt we'll spend very much after the overhaul this year tbh. Some of our fans may be in for disappointment this summer trying to get dopamine hits from our signings.

In fairness though I never expected last summer so I may well be wrong...
