How Have You Managed This ?

Hahahahhahahahahaha:lol:

Roefs has the best points saved xg in the league and Perri one of the worst.

Do you not care about xg anymore? That changed quick

It was just a gentle wind up post to pass on a quiet Sunday night. Yes I am a Leeds fan quite an old one as well first game 1970, but I am one of the 'nicer' Leeds fans most of whom tend to think 'don't believe it them lucky bastards have got an injury time goal again', I did at least point to xg and asked the question how have you managed that, there were a couple of interesting answers amongst all the abuse. The funniest thing about football fans and message boards is how different and superior each set of fans think they are compared to another set of fans, when in fact they have far more in common with each other than they do with none football fans.

Different qualities but when it comes to Sunderland I will freely admit a lot of my knowledge is from reading the comments on here. Roefs seems far better at commanding his area but Perri may be the better reaction shot stopper. Reinildo seems a better defender Gudmunsson the better wing back.

Has Perri actually saved a shot this season? Seems to have hands like poppadoms.

I thought your first post on here was OK but let’s be honest and say that the current Sunderland team is significantly better than the current Leeds one. The signings of proven top class players Xhaka, Reinaldo and Mukiele are next level and the likes of Sadiki and Roefs have top class written all over them. The league table doesn’t lie whatever XG might say. That said things are in your favour for the next game with Leeds turning a corner at exactly the same time as we have lost 6 players to Afcon. If you become the first team all season to get a win up here fair enough but a draw is a realistic outcome given the players we are missing.

I actually think it is a shame that both sides can't play their first eleven (we have three out) as it might have settled some difference of opinions because I don't think Sunderland are significantly better than the current Leeds team/squad. I just tend to think that for some reason you hit the ground running quicker than we have. I would not be at all surprised to see the gap between us at the end of the season as the same eight points as now.

Was it though? Or have you just embarrassed yourself ?

Considering you finished 24 points ahead of us last season and were apparently going to be by far the best of the three promoted sides, it's an embarrassment for Leeds to be that far behind us, to be honest.

Now talking up finishing a potential 8 points behind us come the end of the season as some sort of achievement and a justification of how close the sides are is a bit strange mind.

Good answer. That's what you are a solid defensive side without any real 'game changers' and that's what Leeds are at the moment although we have had to go to a back five to achieve this as you often do. PL games are fine margins, I don't subscribe to the view that Sunderland have been lucky and Leeds have been unlucky but I do think some fine margins have gone your way and gone against Leeds and I do think we will be a lot closer to each other when the final table that does really matter is complete. We were the better team in our last away game at Brentford who have the best home record in the league and we just thrashed Palace who have the best away record in the PL and I am pretty sure it will be a close game at your place, despite the fact that you have a number 16 in the 2024 Ballon d'O playing for you.

Brentford have the 5th best home form in the PL (Sunderland are 4th as it happens) and Palace have the 2nd best away form in the PL.

Why are you making things up?

So, in most of our games, nothing much happens in the first half as we keep it uber tight, looking for an opening, a weakness a mistake, a set piece to exploit. Worst thing you can do is score early against us, then we hunt for blood. We are probably the fittest, hardest and most relentless team in the league. Our opponents cannot keep up with us for 90 minutes. At some point they crack, we score, and then we defend the lead. We might also score late if we have to as our opponents are exhausted marking hard bastard monsters like Brobbey, Ballard, Mukiele Alderete, Hume and Xhaka, terriers like Sadiki or Le Fee. Grind em down like Rocky Marciano so the knockout punch is easier and outperforms XG. That and our defence is mean and very well- organised. Only time we have looked off it is when playing 3 games in a week or when our players return from international duty. This time we have 8 days to prepare. The stadium will be rocking, loudest ground in Europe, fever pitch, intensity, are you ready for war? If not, you will lose.

I want to know if all these experts wear a tracksuit when doing this work on an excel sheet in their bedroom? I had the privilege of working in professional football. I worked with some very good managers who had me entranced when they talked about players - their weaknesses, strengths, and attitude. I had described to me how Colin Bell did a certain move with him being a salt cellar and the opposition were various other table utensils. Chief Scouts who had reports on players that they have been following for a time. I saw a report from the Chief Scout to the Manager recommending signing Kevin Keegan when he was at Scunthorpe. The report had eveyrthing - background, playing history etc. We put a bid in but were outbid by Shanks. We could not up our offer. These people did not need xG or whatever it is, They used their ability to recognise talent. I have been to matches with scouts, coaches to look at players - I was just company for the drive - they would make odd comments and then any time after 60 minutes he would say - "Right that's enough - lets go." I prefer this method.
