How Have You Managed This ?

Perri who looks half the keeper Roefs is, and Gudmonson who looks half the full back Reinildo is.

Different qualities but when it comes to Sunderland I will freely admit a lot of my knowledge is from reading the comments on here. Roefs seems far better at commanding his area but Perri may be the better reaction shot stopper. Reinildo seems a better defender Gudmunsson the better wing back.

No one cares about Leeds FFS. Genuine question, do you sign up to every message board of every team you're about to play just to bang on about how they are compared to Leeds? I couldn't give a fuck. Our aim first season up is to stay up. We're well on course. We defend really well, we've recruited really well, we've got a really good captain driving us in midfield, we're nowhere near being a relegated side. With that in mind, at least 3 teams are worse than us. I don't care which ones finish below us, or where we finish compared to Leeds, Brentford, Fulham or any number of other clubs. The league table suggests we're better than Leeds. That might or might not still be the case at the end of the season, or the next season, or the one after that, couldn't care less

Do we think Undercover is actually Leeds-hmmm?

"most are predicting an easy win at your place with comments like 'if we can't beat a team with Ballard and Hume in defence we don't deserve to be in the PL'"
A couple of wins always seems to bring the arrogance out of supporters, but for some reason there are a few clubs that take it to a level beyond all others - Visitors, Leeds, and West Ham seem to be the 3 worst at it. In the space of 3 weeks the Leeds intelligentsia have gone from "we are doomed" and "Farke shouldn't be near our club" to "if we can't beat the team with the 3rd best defence in the league then we don't deserve to be in it".

Leeds fans who follow transfer threads online will have known about our interest in Sadiki and Diarra but the vast majority of fans are only really interested or knowledgeable about players we sign. The only reason I know quite a bit about your team was my curiosity about how you had managed to do so well made me come on here and google them, had you as expected been in the bottom three I am fairly sure I would not be here.
Kind of wish we were down there now.

No I don't as I said it was just curiosity about your squad given the recent struggles of promoted teams.

They would rate them as decent Championship players but not neccesserily PL quality players. I am pretty sure most Sunderland fans on here think the same about Ampadu and Rodon who have both been outstanding this season.
You are 16th, no one is outstanding in a team that sits 16th after half a season and flirts with relegation. 😂 If so many players were outstanding you wouldn't be 16th, you would be...I don't know...6th maybe. 😁

So, a team that has conceded 31 goals in 17 games has "outstanding" defenders, but a team that has the 3rd best defensive record in the league (conceding just one per game) has a defence that is 50% made up of "decent Championship players" 👌.

I read something today (Guardian/Observer Web site) regarding xg and how it's becoming increasingly meaningless in the Premier League. Basically the point being made was that with the increasing number of goals being scored from set pieces particularly long throws and corners and more teams happy to concede possession and play on the break rather than try and copy Guardiola, xg is a less reliable indicator than it has been in previous seasons.
It also mentioned some increasingly important qualities that stats can't measure such as desire, motivation, etc.
In regard to SAFC we certainly appreciate a Hume"reducer", a Ballard flying block, and Sadiki and Xhaka dominating the mf. Scoring goals and creating chances from open play is clearly not a strength atm but we remain very difficult to beat.
I'd take being sixth in the league table that matters rather than 9th in the xg table. We will see next Sunday how relevant it is.

The secret is in the monkey gland juice

I think the secret at home was momentum, with hindsight West Ham, Brentford an out of form Villa and Wolves were 4 nice home fixtures to start with and credit to you, you have rode the home momentum and picked up a couple of decent away wins. Just a shame you are facing a rejuvenated Leeds next.

Hahahahhahahahahaha:lol:

Roefs has the best points saved xg in the league and Perri one of the worst.

Do you not care about xg anymore? That changed quick

I wouldn't think of anything about your players cos I only care about my own !
Leeds picked up a bit lately have they?

I thought your first post on here was OK but let’s be honest and say that the current Sunderland team is significantly better than the current Leeds one. The signings of proven top class players Xhaka, Reinaldo and Mukiele are next level and the likes of Sadiki and Roefs have top class written all over them. The league table doesn’t lie whatever XG might say. That said things are in your favour for the next game with Leeds turning a corner at exactly the same time as we have lost 6 players to Afcon. If you become the first team all season to get a win up here fair enough but a draw is a realistic outcome given the players we are missing.

Come on mate. We wouldn’t get content like this without the wallies

Agreed. The switch from Sporty to Attack attack attack is seamless.

You do realise you’re talking about Leeds right?
