As a Leeds fan that is my biggest worry, if it turns into a midfield battle and end to end game that is what we thrive on but if a team gets a goal and then just sits back (as Burnley did) we don't look as good, although we will go something like 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 if we go behind.

I’m shitting myself for all conquering Leeds. Will be a much bigger test than Arsenal and Chelsea

I haven't watched a great deal of Leeds this season, but i understand the upswing in form has been since moving to a 5 at the back since the Chelsea game or are they doing similar to Sunderland and rotating between a 4 and 5 depending on opposition now?

Villa has 34 points more than Wolves but in the xG table they are separated by 2 points. What are you trying to say, that with a little luck Wolves could be a Champions League club?!
xG is BS without context, many other stats should be counted to have a clear picture.
Last season Bournemouth had a better xG than Arsenal who finished 2nd.
Totally irelevant stat on it's own.

Only Wolves have a worse away record than you while only us and Arsenal are unbeaten at home in this league.

Can't believe how deluded the Leeds fans are. I'm starting to think I would rather see them going down instead of West Ham.
 
I'm not an expert, but as far as I can tell XG is a metric of build up quality right?

So XG means how much you'd expect to score given the ball is in those positions.

So teams with good strikers and good goalkeepers overperform their xg, and teams with bad strikers and bad goalkeepers underperform them.

Cool, interesting stat. As someone who watched Wolves play this year, I can see why they underperform their xg, they play tidy stuff but can't shoot or save.

The problem is, when people they and pretend that xg will predict points. And it won't cos it doesn't account for shooting and goalkeeping skill.

Teams can overpeform their xp consistently easily. VIlla do.

Having low xp and low posession can be true without it ever meaning that you're bad.

I never suggested xG should be gospel and dictate what the table should look like and I agree there is a lot of factors that need to be took into account. xG is just a good guideline for which teams maybe underperforming and overperforming.

In no way have Leeds fans surely got so arrogant after a few decent results, perhaps they have. They all wanted Farke out and were as good as down a a few games ago.

If by "How have you managed this?" you mean "How are Sunderland 6th at Christmas?", I suppose the only real answer is: "By being the 6th best team in the league so far". Interestingly, this is measured by a statistic known as actual points rather than by a predictive statistic such as xG.

To break it down for the hard of thinking, at the moment (after having played 17 matches) Sunderland have scored 19 actual goals and conceded 17 actual goals. They've done this in such a fashion that on 7 occasions they scored more actual goals than their opposition and were thus awarded 3 actual points in the actual table. On 6 occasions, they scored an equal number of actual goals as did their opponents and were awarded 1 actual point in the actual table. On the other 4 occasions, they sadly scored fewer actual goals than their opponents and were awarded no actual points in the actual table.
