How did it go so wrong for Leicester?

They made vardy bigger than the club and kept him at all costs, their transfer business has been shocking at best and they’re still relying on vardy as non of their strikers they’ve signed for the last 5 seasons have been any good

You could argue that after massively overachieving they've gone back to their 'natural' place

Still find it odd that they appear to have no money, taking out loans etc. I though they were sorted financially with the owner bankrolling them, and even after his tragic and untimely death, his son inheriting the family fortune and taking over?

Maybe the Leicester fans on here know the details @Burlesque @Squirrel ? If it's not too painful to talk about right now?
Sorry but I can't even be arsed. Too many reasons.
Wouldn't say its our natural position. Since the start of the PL we're 14th. (I know football started before the Premier League but over 30 years is a pretty good measure)

Rodgers and Congerton, scum.

Tried and failed to replace Vardy. Owners business was decimated by COVID so couldn't afford to keep putting cash in.

The owners business (something to do with duty free I think) was almost wiped out by COVID so they haven't been able to keep supporting them.

Poor management, ownership and transfers. The collapse of the income from Duty Free hit the owners badly as did the tragic helicopter accident
They’ve had a wonderful time overall but probably returning to their natural level.
They had a lot of fair weather support so it will be interesting to see their attendance in the Championship
They'll not fancy the championship. The king power will be extremely toxic. They've seen their finest hour and they know they'll spend the rest of their days as fans being in a state of anticlimax.

Bigger question is How Did it go so right?

Getting relegated is hardly a shock. Winning the Premier league and the Cup was close to unbelievable for a team of their stature these days.

Don't feel sorry for their fans. We'd snatch your hand off for such a bargain.

FFP got some players on mammoth wages with very little turnover so unable to spend too greatly, also the recruitment has been horrendous.

Going into Europe is harder than it looks. Travel, size of squad, playing mid-week against top opposition (sometimes) and the simple fact that if you are good bigger clubs will come and attempt to take your players. The bigger clubs have the base to work off and if you don't have the base your business dealings both selling and buying have to be better than your competitors. Leicester have been in decline year on year since the magnificence of their there league win. This was achieved on the back of a team which knew exactly what role each and every member of the team had to do. Once it breaks down its very difficult to maintain forward momentum. Makes all the more impressive what Ferguson and Wenger achieved over the years when continually refreshing and reinventing their teams and remaining successful.

Vardy on fire, discovering Mahrez and the little French guy whose name escapes me. The rest of them played the games of their lives all season
