How did Cardiff’s goal stand ?

Why should that make a difference? Are you questioning this boards ability to view incidents objectively without being influenced by bias towards their club?

You're right mind. The Cardiff forum would ge going ballistic if that was given as a foul. So would this one if that's your attacker on their goalkeeper.

I wonder what most neutrals would say about this incident?
That it was a foul on the keeper. It's not hard to see it.

So you don't think it's a foul? His outstretched arm is perfectly fine where it is and the fact that it's connected with our keeper's arm whilst he's attempting to claim the ball knocking Patterson's arm away from him is acceptable?

After seeing the replay, I wouldn't be going ballistic if the shoe was on the other foot at all. It's a very easy foul to give and the ref has massively got that wrong.

I think neutrals would say two things:

1) it was a foul

2) They would agree that they have just witnessed one of the best match winning saves of the season

However Sunderland fans would rather focus on their own keepers weight and blame him for conceding a goal where he was blatantly fouled.

Only us

Clear foul mind, and shows some people go too far the other way when it comes to goalkeepers and being overly protected.

Patterson literally has his hands taken away from the ball by another player using their arm to do so. Anyone who claims it’s ‘weak’ I’d love to see their attempt at not moving their hands whilst in mid air when a six foot bloke is pushing them.

Yep, amazed that some still can't appreciate this. Even now. Having seen the replay.

This summarises it well. Some would rather argue it wasn't a foul so they can pin the blame on Patterson basically and or protect the beloved ref as woe betide anyone who dares challenge a referees decision as they are the salt of the earth, the righteous, they give up their Saturday to be paid less than a paperboy.
In real time you can definitely see why the officials didn't give it. Hardly any protests from the Sunderland players. Replays do show it was probably a foul mind

He's right in front of it, there's no excuses for not getting it right in real time either.

Neil as the captain appealed to the ref (he followed the rules, whilst other clubs' players would have surrounded the officials).

Which is it then? All appeal and complain or accept the referees decision?

We never do, but interesting you think we didn't get the decision because should protest to get the right decision....and you still defend them

He defends referees more than referees themselves. I wish he would come to a referees meeting, referees admit errors and call out each other errors. He rightly calls out some criticism of referees that is illogical, but he won’t have a bad word said about any referee ever even when it’s blatantly obvious they’re wrong or not up to the level.

Montgomery v Leeds
Norman v West Ham
Patterson v Cardiff
Gordon v Bolton

I haven’t read the thread - I’m assuming this thread is about putting these unbelievable match winning saves in order of preference?

Your talking absolute shite as per usual. Yous obviously got it in for the ref in question. No way are you going into any match he officiates you watch objectively. He's obviously a more than competent ref as the people who watch him week in, week out still decide he's good enough to officiate at a very high standard still. He'll make errors like the rest of the do but that par for the course given how difficult the job is

The previous angle gif is also misleading and probably fooled some as the attacker is moving but away from the camera. It doesn't show both the players going towards the ball like this angle. This is a shitty gif but you can see the attacker is also moving sideways and they collide mid air and both end up spinning legs up. The huge difference is, only 1 player should have his arms up that long.

This isn't great footage and the gif even shittier but you can still see the ball's path and fill in the gaps. Patterson's hands is the highest hand in the left side of the image with the attacker's sticking out at an angle. The right side of the image shows the same thing but the ball is right on them. If the attacker hadn't stopped the movement of Patterson's left arm then he's at least getting his left fingertips on the ball. That then changes the balls path and it wouldn't end up bouncing of Hjelde's head to their attacker.

Several players went to the ref. It was a foul. Clear as day.
No foul.
Ref got it right
  So I guess players can just foreman across the keepers arms to stop them claiming crosses now?
Penalty to Cardiff :lol::lol::lol::lol:
