Houghton V Brandon HLSCL

Brandon got 130, having been 85/8 at one point. The last partnerships were a result of excellent batting rather than poor bowling though. Again our bowling was bang on to a man, Craig S (4/26?) and Gregg (3/29 and the run out of the dangerous YVOR) getting the bulk of Brandon out.

We fell 12 short with 3.5 overs left. John got 19 and I was last man out on 49. My batting was a step up from the shite it's been which is a relief but the turning point was when I called Jack through for a tight single and I ran him out again. If Jack had batted 5 overs we'd have won as he has been smashing it all over recently.

Well done to Brandon on winning a tight game, in particular the left arm spinner who we struggled to get away at the death. Gutted to lose though, every loss this season has been a tight one.

A very decent and well contested game today. Brandon batted first and got off to a poor start with wickets falling at regular intervals Jamey failed to build on his 72 from last week, in form Greeny went second ball after hitting the first ball for 4 Gaz and YVoR looked like rebuilding the innings but Gaz skied one that was comfortably taken by McRounders then YVoR was ran out for 19 just as was starting to look good. Liam gave the innings a lift smashing a late 41 to take the Riggs boys to a well below par 130

The Houghton lads managed to get themselves out just as they were getting in ( Ed told me the lad coming in 3 was the danger man but he went quickly) McRounders can score quickly but chipped a ball to a fielder off YVoR for a patient 19 Tom batting 6 held the innings together and Houghton were looking good till a very poor run out decision put the game back in the balance. Young Gaz bowled his spin with good control and when Tom played around one he missed out on a deserved 50 and the game belonged to Brandon.

Nice lads the Houghton lads bit of handbags from a lad of each side but the game was played in good spirit

Unlucky Tom and good look Houghton for the rest of the season

The lads did their best

I enjoyed me tea, nice one Craig :-)

Did you think the run out was not out? Me and the ump were surprised when he gave it albeit from the other end.

Can youse win the league? You don't seem to lose many.

Never out mate in my opinion our keeper dropped the ball on the stumps said was surprised it was given

We have only lost one think we are top. We have won a few with scores like today we tend to bowl ok.

Has 7 juniors on today this level off cricket really brings them on
