Am I right in thinking Fenham Falcons are just Newcastle City re-branded?

Hammered an absolute thrashing to our academy side Sunday just gone. Reckon they'll piss Div 2.

I dont think so. If I'm on the right team they are a team made up fully of Asian players. I saw them play last year. I thought they were promoted because they led the league for a long time last year but must have faded away badly.

they were a strange bunch of lads. smoking their heads off before, during and after the game - almost none of them wore protective head gear, in fact a lot of their gear was shared and they constantly argued with each other off the field.

@NorthCountryBoy knows craic but iirc, they were supposed to be some sort of community project where kids were taught cricket over the winter and then played competitivly. On neither occasion when we played them did they resemble anything approaching this. Strong bowling, weak batting and shit teas. One or two looked they might have recently learned but most looked like they had played properly somewhere.

They are a cracking bunch of lads P. Got a team/ club together on next to no resources from what they were saying to us. Far harder to achieve what they have than put out teams in an area with loads of private school kids around.

At present they are still independent of them.

They were good lads, 'white British' guy who played more like an Indian than the rest of them. They are a decent outfit 2 quick bowlers, changes where sharp without being too quick. Some decent bats for guys who like to hit it hard. They were all mid 20s plus. I enjoyed the tea and thought they were decent blokes.

I see.

I have no idea where I got the idea they were Newcastle City from, mind.

Cowgate was an Asian side nice set of polite lads all were taxi drivers and could hit the ball miles

I played against these when I was 12 years old and they had this guy bowling f***ing gas but he literally couldn't hit the square. He kept chucking 5 wides down the leg side but the captain (the wicket keeper) kept him on because he enjoyed standing miles back.:lol:

Similar when i played them as a youngin, there scorer was running out the scorebox halfway onto the pitch and chanting 'kill him kill him' after a each wicket.

Then they came out to bat and the opener who was using a 4 pound bat with no stickers on it claimed that he could "hit the ball nicely on his day". He then proceeded to take 27 off the first over (all across the line to cow corner).

Those were the days :)

There was a guy on the balcony who looked about 120 years old with a turban on kept shouting "YES SALEEM, SALEEEEEEEM" after the fast bowler started bouncing all of the 12 year old kids.
