Why would any top team touch rafa now, he is a busted flush. If he was any good he would have kept them up last season, or at least romped the championship this season after they have spent 120million in the the last 3 windows.

You keep on with this busted flush crap and how he didn't keep us up...the damage was done he only had 10 games of them 10 we were unbeaten in the last 6 drawing with city and Liverpool pool and thumping spurs

Answer me this do you think mourinho, guardiola, klopp et all could keep your lot up with 10 to go

If they didn't would they be a busted flush too and responsible for taking you down???

Di canio managed to keep us up with 8 games

Suspect he means two champions league finals with Liverpool. No doubt he did a great job at Valencia and a good one at Liverpool but since then his record is patchy at best compared to the expectations of the clubs he's been at.

I did mean the 2 with Liverpool

Also Rafa is the only manager in history to have won

The Europa league, the champions league, the uefa super cup and the fifa world club cup

So yeah a failure really

That's not what I asked

Benitez is not a failure at all and I think he's a very decent manager but he's not this world class manager most of you lot think he is

I know it's not I'm just saying he did as did advocate

Believe me he has his flaws and is very open to criticism especially some of his passive tactics at home this season and the constant playing of that ginger prick

But compared to the utter charlatans we've had in the last 10 years he's streets ahead

MrsGD: "Are you nearly finished on the computer hon?"
GD: "No, important buisiness love, won't be long tho"
MrsGD: "Ooh! What are you doing? Tax returns? Writing a novel? Learning some facts?"
GD: "No pet, just trying to convince some Mackems that NUFC have a great manager"
MrsGD: "That's nice dear"

I mean, we both know that Ashley is a lying arsehole so I'm not sure why you'd attempt to paint him as anything but a lying arsehole.
We also know that the bigger picture of Newcastle's relegation shifts a lot of the blame from Rafa Benitez and onto Ashley, Charnley, McClaren and his predecessors
We also know that Newcastle are on course for a >92pt season which is comfortably enough to win the title and beyond defeating the challengers when Newcastle meet them, there's not much that Newcastle United can do to prevent other clubs also being on course for >90pt seasons, so "running away" with a league isn't really up to us.
Finally, we also know that while a lot of money was spent, all of it was from player sales and when you buy 1 keeper, 2 fullbacks, 2 centre backs, 4 midfielders, and two strikers, £55m isn't actually a staggering sum.

But I know that rather than trying to make a valid point, your post was instead a display of your club allegiance. Because to show your love Sunderland, you must show your hate Newcastle. That's ok, I forgive you.

I agree with most of that like, you sold 2 players at an amazing fee and rebuilt a team - exactly what we will need to do once we flog pickford and Jermaine. Suppose that makes me a mag agree-ing with you - bugger

It's easier to dispose the theory of relativity really

Cupas team though.

I meant 2 champions league finals when at Liverpool already said that, the comment read wrong

The damage was done? They you were safe when he took over and failed to beat us, Norwich and Villa.

Thumping Spurs in a meaningless match is some achievement though.

Ha ha, quality mate....put him back in his place.

Rafa had 3 must win games in his run in....fucked them all up.....if it hadnt of been us relegaging them, they would have slaughtered him. Far easier to hide behind, "oh he had no chance....we were only the biggest spenders in europe the previous window"

Nonsense. I've yet to speak to single mag who's suggested he's going anywhere, let all of them.

Look at Twitter, check out a forum, listen to podcasts, whatever floats your boat. Majority of match goers think he's away unless Ashley caves, which he won't.

We need to start thinking about an Ashley statue somewhere along the Newcastle road to thank him for 10 wonderful years :)

Mid table premier league and above.
Oh, I dunno, I reckon Watford, West Brom and their ilk would be delighted to have a manager like Benitez. His stock is low on Wearside for obvious reasons, but elsewhere people know he's a good manager with a good reputation and an impressive trophy record.

If he was so good he wouldn't be at Newcastle
This, unwittingly, kind of proves a different point.

X is connected to Newcastle, some Sunderland fans countenance nothing positive about Newcastle, therefore X is bad.

It would be like us declaring Defoe must be shit because he's signed for Sunderland and Sunderland are shit. When, objectively, Defoe is a leading goal scorer in the Premier League. The dismissal of Benitez's trophy wins is churlish.

I agree with most of that like, you sold 2 players at an amazing fee and rebuilt a team - exactly what we will need to do once we flog pickford and Jermaine. Suppose that makes me a mag agree-ing with you - bugger

Say it quietly, but 11 players who should win you promotion, for £55m isn't bad business at all.

Pickford, Kone and a few others could fund the kind of overhaul Sunderland need to push for automatic promotion at the first time of asking. Say you get £50m for JP, LK, DN + one or two others; you could buy 3 players for around £10m, and 4 players for around £5m. 7 new players who the new manager can use as a core, with squad players from your youth team and existing squad.

Di Canio's 8 games at the end of 2012/13 season.
P8 W2 D2 L4 - PPG 0.75

Benitez 8 games at the end of last season
P8 W3 D3 L2 - PPG 1.38

Not really comparable tbf. If Benitez had Di Canio's target we'd have pissed it. Even if you take away the dead rubber of the Spurs game and shift it a game forward it's P8 W2 D3 L3 which still exceeds Di Canio's record.

Only Advocaat's survival PPG record is better than Benitez's last season.
