Hayden Hackney

Wouldn't want hackney as I don't think he's good enough to be an pl player, for me Dan Neil is a all round better player
Dan Neil is a good solid player, but Hackney is ahead. Well ahead. Dan struggled for game time at Ipswich and Hackney got the league player of the year. They are very similar ages and Hackney has plenty of U21 caps and Neil has none. He might not end up being successful in the premier league, but I'd take him here, especially if the fee is around the "10 million mark.

It's a no brainer. Any championship player of the year who is English and under say, 28, has to be worth a punt at that price.

I’m not so sure. He may represent good value for money compared to other players of a similar standard, but then if we don’t play him because he’s got good enough, he’s just a depreciating asset leeching a monthly wage. If you slap a £1m price tag on Isidor then Arsenal wouldn’t sign him just because he’s worth more than that, because he simply isn’t good enough for them.

I don’t think he’s as good as our starting 11, and any players we are adding (with the exception of a backup left back) need to improve us, not sit on the bench

First time I'd ever seen him play was in playoff final ( unless he played agin us last season) and he was tidy when he came on , but not enough to go off for me.

PS Thought it was Messi coming on the way commentary team went on.

I like Hackney , Ive watched a lot of Boro in the championship , my eldest Gson is a Boro fan. He’s class at that level , but the championship is a huge drop in quality compared to the PL.Can he make the step up ? It’s debatable. If we are taking gambles on potential that’s unproven at PL level , I’d rather we stick to our current model , buying them younger. He’s 24 in 3 weeks. 20-22 gives the player a couple more years to improve/prove himself. I agree with you about him being ahead of DN.

He's the kind of player that I think if we could get for £15m, with a few million in performance related fees, then he'd be worth a gamble. I know there's no guarantee he'd make the step up, but he looks a proper step above everybody else at Championship level so there's a decent chance.

Unfortunately he's English which means he won't move for less than £30m.

Nowhere near that figure, he's in his final year isn't he?
