To be fair you don’t really know until they’re tried. I didn’t think Hume, Ballard, Wilson and Mayenda would handle the step up but three of them certainly have.

They have to suit the style etc how the other team plays. A lot of players fail due to playing for the wrong team/ style.

Boro have as good a chance as any in the playoffs.

Similar to us as was pushing for automatics then form nose dived but has turned a couple of games before ours did. Think they’ll do it personally.

Hackney’s a decent player but not for us this summer.

The good thing for Boro is they create a lot of chances -so therefore if they “click l like the other day -they have a chance .
Southampton the obvious problem but they will have played more games in the run up including àn fa cup semi -who knows if it may affect them .
Millwall could still go up automatically -incredible .

So Kyle walker Andy Robertson Bowen etc didn't step up .all became internationals

Walker and Robertson didn't really step up - Spurs signed Walker as a kid after only 2 Championship appearances then loaned him back, Robertson was signed in the Premier League and got relegated.

But that's not the point. None were signed purely because they'd won Championship POTY.

Worth a look at if Boro don't go up highly rated but don't know much about him.

I prefer Ben Brent, Neil Newham, Greg Greenwich, Brian Brixton and Les Lewisham.

Problem with using Alan Brown in the exchange is that he retired in 1986 and wasn’t on our books by that point anyway.

I work on Teesside with Middlesbrough supporters and the vast majority would be disappointed if he went to Sunderland. Would think that a few clubs will be in for him although don't think boro will necessarily receive the money they think they are going to get for him. Maybe 20 million +

They'll probably struggle to get that as he's only got another year left on his contract.

I still think Ipswich will finish second and Southampton will win the play-offs. Southampton are flying aren’t they?! Boro play Wrexham this weekend so a big game for both Boro can still beat anyone on their day to be fair, it would be quite good to have all three North East clubs back in the premier league.

Could, and would, argue they were better and younger (Bowen perhaps the oldest given his lower league start) but don’t think Hackney or Rudoni have the pedigree to take the plunge on for the outlay.

Will most likely get bumped when they go to Madrid just can’t see it
