He definitely should be there or there abouts, like. Superb talent.

Mainoo is head and shoulders above him...sometimes you see a player and they just have it....Eliott works hard, Mainoo oozes class

there isnt really any hype about elliot..he plays regularly in a team of superstars but isnt hyped up himself..

He should be in contention but plays a different role to Mainoo. We are stacked in Elliott's position but there's a big gap for a deeper midfielder alongside Rice, hence how Henderson and Phillips are still kicking about.

could play with one deep and two attacking ones..as that plays to the teams strenghts..

This, he's an obvious talent but he's not really starting all the time. That mannio kid was brought in just to get him to commit to England imho and he's a different midfielder to Elliot. Where Elliot plays he unfortunately has a stack of more experienced better players currently starting more for their clubs etc.

That would be a risk for me, given we aren't that strong defensively. Rice alongside a lad who can sit deeper but is comfortable on the ball and getting forward, like mainoo, sounds better than having potentially Bellingham and Maddison together in attacking mid, especially since they'd probably want to be in the same positions and might end up being less effective as a result
