It does always make me chuckle a little when this thread gets bumped on a match day - I can't believe that it will have been around for a decade later this year. Only 13 words (I suppose 15 if you include the title), but one of the most infamous, famous, classic, and quoted threads ever! Fair play to the legend of @Hongkongphooey

As of 22nd January 2026, [according to Transfermarkt] the flash in the pan has scored:

> 330 league goals, and assisted 73.
> 74 European goals, and assisted 19.

For a total of 513 goals, and 118 assists. That's 109 goals more than Alan Shearer, 147 more than Wayne Rooney, and 227 more than Gary Lineker [who are probably the 3 highest English scorers of my football watching time].
