Harry Gardiner in from South Shields

He struggled to get games at South Shields last season.

I think people forget the gap between under 21s football and Championship is massive.

But been told by someone at the club he's probably not going to make at Sunderland like alot of under 21s players at the club, they are mostly fillers as we learnt our lesson from the 2 years they didn't win a game to have players decent for that level.

A reminded 2 'wonderkids'/ at Boro who did well in the 23/21 in past a few years have since been binned and are at West Auckland and Stockton
Good post! The gap is huge, a lot don’t realise this. Most go on loan and can’t handle the northern conference, never mind the championship.

Good Post !

He’s probs not good enough yet for Championship football, however his goal scoring record put the other 3 strikers combined to shame this season.
For that point alone it warrants discussion.
Like your post as well. We should look to the younger ones first, who'd play out of their skin for a start in the red and white, rather than sign a loan "pedigree" young player who is no where near committed, nor good enough in comparison. Amad obviously excluded, the little beauty who is one of us and knows it in his heart; see you again soon, fingers crossed.

I haven't seen much of him tbh mate but he always seems to be on the scoresheet...which is a great trait to have.
That's true. People who sniff goals have something natural about them.
Yeah I’ve thought the same tbf. Think he would struggle physically against championship defenders. Would be good to see how he would do on loan in league 2 or national league
Exactly that. If he went to Hartlepool or Gateshead and scored at this rate you'd have to look at his potential. At the moment you'd assume he's nowhere near the first team.

At the same time you can't to write him off purely because it's u21 football. Remember we plucked Ekwah, Alese, Cirkin etc... for u21 team with little to no senior football experience.

As I remember, it was a bit of a scramble to get players in for that season. Far more competition for places from lads coming through now as the best are not being sold off, they can see a pathway and want to stay. A couple of years ago we’d never have kept Riggy, Watson, Ogunsuyi.

Think the point is we don’t need to assume burstow and hemir are no near first team
