Best of good health, happiness, joy and laughter for the upcoming New Year to all members of the forum . Hopefully the year brings me 2 new knees , promotion for Pools ,no unwarranted bans 😃 , and recognition of the Carty Reform Party. May the Trapdoor Stand Casuals and County Durham Upper Stand diehards enjoy a harmonious relationship with the Students on 'Slap n Tickle ' nights . All cricket clubs survive and maybe prosper , NEPL cricket returns to The Riggs and the Admin/ Mods/Feds have a more common sense approach to situations rather than splashing out the red cards
For the sake of Auld Lang Syne 👍

All the best in 2025 from The Trapdoor Army (think we managed one CC game in there in 2024 and that was over in 5 sessions:lol:) and greetings from the ghosts of CLS XI 1977ish - KR Flynn, R Harrison, Wasim Raja, NC Allison, W Routledge, DL Greener, D Nevins, D Nairn, S Elstob, R Foster and D Sweeney.:D

The first match I went to at Ropery Lane as an 11 year old was in 1975 for Colin Milburn's testimonial against Greenside and I recall him playing but when I became a junior member in 1977 I dont remember ever seeing him play. It was always Wasim who did the slow bowling duties when he arrived that season.
Willie Wake was my first bowling victim when he was at the swansong stage of his career at Bill Quay seconds in 1981 v Medomsley in a North East Durham League game, LBW to a Steve Greensword type delivery, Thereafter my keeping career took over. 1977 might've been a year too early for DC Jackson 🤔

Were you wearing the Leics jumper?🤔

I think DCJ may have been 1978 and it was round about then that Robbie Harrison took over the gloves and became the Rod Marsh of Ropery Lane.

Certainly were a lot of Davids in that team.

I’m praying that this time next year a potential 4 Durham players will be in the team and bringing home the Ashes

That can’t have happened before with any county side if it happens

Stokes, Potts, Carse and Wood

Hopefully a year with no further injury problems for those lads
