do you think big alf could beat shearers premier league record or won't stay that long
eh
I would go further. If City are found guilty, I would banish them to the Championship with a proviso that they are not allowed promotion for a couple of seasons.Playing in the championship next year might stop him tbh.
How about our boy, Dave Halliday. For those of us who can remember that football existed before 1992, can I say " I genuinely do not give a $hit "
Jimmy Greaves has the #1 spot as the all time top flight goal scorer and no one will ever get near it.
Mary Poppins is at #5, good but no prize winner.
Champions league and la liga double winners I reckon, however Barca seem like they are getting back on track again. What sort of team are Madrid going to have man if he goes there?

7 x 30 + 72 still leaves him 75 shortHe’s already got 72. At 30 a season he’d need 7 more seasons
I misread your post apologies. Thought the target was 286 which it clearly isn’t. Either which way, but just can’t see him sticking around long enough to get near to shearer never mind Greaves7 x 30 + 72 still leaves him 75 short
It’s a strange thing that the English league is consistently considered the strongest in the world, yet the truly elite players almost always end up at Madrid or Barcelona. He won't stay in the PL long enough to beat it

Aye, it's as simple as that and the most obvious is the fact that there were more goals per game in previous years and it dropped off late 60s at the end of Greavsie's era. Below is the history of goals per game and the dark bit from 1958 to 1969 is Greavsie's era with the lighter grey bit his last 2 seasons with West Ham when he scored just 13 goals in 38 games. It's been more stable since mid 1970s with around 2.5 to 2.8 goals per game but it was higher for most of Greavsie's peak seasons. Though last season was an outlier as there were 3.28 goals per game, possibly helped due to Sheff Utd, Luton and Burnley conceding loads as this season is at 2.68.Is it not just a way of defining modern football?
He’s miles away from Jimmy Greaves
Aye it's mad how it's the record just since a name change
The only correct answer.
Im surprised when Shearer is such a egotistical twat that he happily reduces his top flight goal tally by 23 goals.
But then I guess without "all time prem goalscorer" his career is far less significant without it. So he has to swallow his pride at his single career medal, even though there are shit players with the same amount of prem medals.
Greavsie is always brought up and rightly so but for many people today it's easier to relate to the PL record as a comparison. People can't dismiss that it was a different game back then if you look more into it. I've waffled on about it plenty in the past to try to compare the 2 but even that is a load of shite. You just have to realise that at the time, Greavsie was a machine, just as Haaland is now but the record top flight goal numbers alone simply can't be compared as like for like comparison between the 2 players. This is something I wrote in the Kane thread.Premier League record, isn't the all time record. It's just stats for the last 20 years or so. The Football League is over 130 years old.
