"However, when the line is crossed from being funny to abusive, we do have to make sure we are responsible and remind people to be careful about what they write on social media."

Where is this imaginary line that they mention?

There were 80k+ comments yesterday. From the few dozen I glanced at, all were hair puns.
They've just stated a law, they're not stopping people from ripping it out of the lad.

Them doing this has not only got a few people frothing over nowt, but has put their wanted person campaign to the most read story on the BBC. Good work IMO.

The police are actually wasting their time doing this.,
What a shambles.
What, preventing crime with some advice which took someone, possibly a civilian, a whole few seconds? How dare they. I have not read any of the comments other than those posted by the BBC, but if the wanted criminal or someone else makes a complaint the police will have to investigate them. Isn't that more a waste of time?
