Guardian fans network season review

I know there’s only limited space but surprised she only mentioned Xhaka and Rigg as the stars of the season.

See the mags are deluded as ever. “We need a world class goalkeeper”!!

8.5/10. What the hell were they watching?

Enjoyed this from the Saudi fan:

Lewis Hall cemented his place as one of England’s finest left-backs
I'd give our season a ten no matter what happens tomorrow, it's been outstanding.
(Just seen it was written by a woman)

I'm puzzled how Fulham give Newcastle best away fans, but they don't play them until tomorrow, unless they played in the cup.

No they didnt  so the Saudis got one mention and it didnt actually happen. Quality.

It's a lass. Chris Rigg? Clueless comment. He's played a bit part whilst other players like Ballard, Mukiele, Sadiki and Le Fee have had stellar seasons.

She didn't really mention Rigg as a star, just as a symbol of the season, "Chris Rigg has been another symbol of the season, playing top-flight football with no fear." I guess she was trying to add nuance and show that a young player has developed during the season.

See above. By all means disagree but women can see and understand just as well as men so your dismissal says more about you than her.

The names you mention all stand out and Roefs has been magnificent.
On its own terms the season has to be 10/10. The blip we had was understandable. To compete and survive with plenty still to play for in the last game is beyond all expectation. Maybe 1 mark off for the awful display at Port Vale.

Well she's talking shite basically...

So why did she completely ignore half a dozen players and mention Rigg? Absolutely bizarre.

Because he is very young, has come through the ranks and shown on several occasions that he can play at this level. Despite some early games when he looked like a passenger, he has thrived. It's a nuanced take which.contrasts with the veteran Xhaka is how it reads to me. I personally wouldn't have highlighted him but I can see why she did and it is a valid point to make.

Two comments in the thread pointing out it's a woman writing it as if that makes any difference whatsoever

How many men make up the normal match threads who going off their posts on there would probably give our season a 5/10

8.5/10 is fairly meaningless as clearly everyone has their own interpretation of what '10' actually represents.

We could have finished 17th and some people could still legitimately give a 10/10 due to not being relegated.

Once everyone actually agrees on a guideline for what each point out of the ten stands for then it makes sense to argue over why it should be 7/10 or 9/10 etc
