Good point re: cultures. It would seem like a good alternative to pork but no good if not Kosher or Halal for that market. Just a profit exercise then I imagine.

Apparently less salt in the shop ones compared to the frozen retail ones.
Fondly remembering the cheese n onion pasty from Maws - loads of tasty cheese and potato with right amount of seasoning and buttered flaky crust.
The Greggs equivalent is filled with some sort of toxic baby puke..

The katsu chicken pasty they done was lovely. Always had to take it home and stick it in the oven first mind, but at least it tasted nice when hot
