Greek Island Holiday Help

We are off to Skala, Kefalonia in August (hotel Paspalis) and cant wait.

This our first Greek holiday with our little girl (11l. In the last few years we had stuck to Spanish holidays (Ibiza, Majorca, Canaries). When we were looking where to go I found a video on YouTube from Simon Pegg which was quite random, he highly recommended Skala, and a particular hotel/taverna that they go to regularly.
Skala is decent.

Last time I was there (22?) it was still in that sweet spot between being too small and Benidorm.

Hire a little boat on the beach for the day and pootle around the coast.

We're off there in September - place called Agia Marina, which is just along the coast from Chania, between it and Platanias,

Plan is to have a mooch around both those places, maybe a night out in each.
We've been to Agia Marina twice . Easy to get to from Chania airport , plenty of lovely restaurants, very easy to get into Chania and a nice beach .

We stayed in the Paspalis , quite a few years ago now but it was in a lovely spot right opposite the beach . Skala was really nice with lots of lovely restaurants, nice laid back bars .
One thing is if I remember rightly the beach near the hotel has a fairly steep drop into the sea , it was also quite shingly but the water was really clear . There was a great boat trip from right opposite the hotel to Ithaca .

Loved Kefalonia, and the trip to Ithaca was bloody lovely

Just come back from Corfu town. Nice place to stay but main reason we went there was to get ferry across to Albania and we stayed in Ksamil. Beautiful place, lovely beaches and had some great affordable food. Gets really busy in summer months so nice to go before got too much

Mythos taverna in the square was excellent for food i thought
Had to go on maps there . The bike rental is opposite there . I've never been in . We try to get a food option in with room price. When we don't we go to Nostos just down the street from there towards sea . Very nice . Last year we were AI in fereniki ,we had 3 stays at different times over the trip . Working out about £23 a night . Rooms average but restaurant is same one as the high end part of hotel .

We stayed in the Paspalis for a couple of nights before we moved from Skala to Lassi, lovely hotel with modern rooms in a great location near the beach.

Wish we'd stayed there longer as we much preferred it to Lassi.

Yeah, we don't want Benidorm, Magaluf or Laganas, but we like somewhere with a good choice of bars, and Lassi looks ok.

Tsilivi in Zante last year was just right for us, plenty choice, but not full of idiots or young uns

Went to Lassi a couple of years back, having heard great things about the resort and the island.
Must admit was very underwhelmed. 2 main beaches were small and crowded and the nightlife was based around one road of a few bars and restaurants, which got a bit boring after a couple of nights.

We stayed at harmony boutique along the front went AI but just looking at bed and breakfast for next visit . loved it at the lake but a few nights there was enough

Were back to Malia again Sep/oct, love San Giorgio in the old town, literally the best food i’ve eaten! Mind you, there are also fantastic alternatives very close by! Will visit the Alchemist in Koutouloufari also, again exceptional! Just costs a fortune in taxis cos i can’t make it up the hills with me dodgy ticker! Good job our lass (no), is generous with her purse😉

What’s Malia like these days. Must be nearly 40 years since went there last.
