Greek Island Holiday Help

As beaches go you will struggle to find anywhere to beat Skiathos

I've done 20 or so Greek islands and I'd say it's my favourite

Others may have more to offer in regards nightlife, water parks etc but for relaxation and enough going on then Skiathos has it all
We're looking at Skiathos/Skopelos next year for a big family holiday with our family and the wife's cousins family. Both Aussie/Greeks. We had the same trip cancelled during covid so it's been awhile coming.
Currently lying on the beach of the island paradise that is Aitutaki in the South Pacific. Another stunning place.

Both be good but more to do in Skiathos , also for skopelos you need a ferry from Skiathos .
Stop in Skiathos town , the island is relatively small and has load nice beaches , the town itself has a beach (although not a picture postcard beach it’s decent enough), great on an evening , no big groups of lads , more for couples and families

Sounds perfect for us.

Not an island, but we are looking at Pefkochori on one of the mainland peninsulas for next year. There'll be either three or four couples.

Has anyone been, and is there plenty to do - restaurants, bars, etc?

Any good?
We stayed at the Hotel Ideon and had a room with a sea view . The hotel had an area outside with its bar fronting onto a square that had a few restaurants and bars and was just around the corner from the old town. It also had a pool at the back of the hotel .
The old town was beautiful, loads of little streets with shops, bars , restaurants etc.
The beach was a walk away through the old town, we only went the once as we preferred the pool at our hotel. Lots of places to eat/drink at the beach front.
Rethymnon has a Venetian harbour that is very picturesque, again loads of tavernas around there . We took a sunset boat trip from there.

It’s 10 year since we’ve been to Greece, off to Koutouloufari tomorrow. Really looking forward to it based on comments on here. Any recommendations?

Off to Lindos in Rhodes next midweek. Will be watching the Leeds game on the Friday night. 10pm kick off over there so plenty time to find a decent bar and settle down to watch it. Give me a shout if anyone else is out there.

Loads of nice tavernas can recommend Esperos, try Sofa’s in the next village, Old Hersonnisos.

I went to Halkidiki with my 2 sons just over a dozen years ago.

Enjoyed it, found it cheap as chips compared to the Greek islands.

Cheers. Good to hear.

Got back from Skiathos about three weeks ago and thought the drinks weren't too bad - the equivalent of town prices, maybe slightly less. Food was reasonably priced but cocktails were horrendously expensive, mind.

Though not as bad as Kalkan in Turkey which was ridiculously expensive for everything.

We found the food ridiculously cheap. Probably half the price of Rhodes.

Back from Alonnisos, ferry taxi took over an hour from Skiathos, but well worth it. Stayed in a villa in-between the old town and port. Food and weather great as usual. Very green and loads of different beaches a short car drive away. The old town is stunning and the views are spectacular.

Drinks around the harbour on the steps etc are not cheap at all

They do long happy hours of 2 for 1 cocktails

Stick to the local beers and you won't go wrong

Loads of excellent restaurants, Alchemist for the orange pie (tremendous) Iokasti is spot on and Socrates in Piskopiano for a daytime Gyros and beer. Great place, enjoy.

You must of been there the same time as me.
Happy hour cocktails around the port for this tight little County Durham lad
