Just got back from Corfu yesterday. Stayed at Mareblue Resort and while it’s a really nice hotel probably doesn’t fit your requirements as the nearest town is a 15 minute taxi ride away. Only a couple of bars, a restaurant (traditional taverna) and a beach outside the actual hotel, nowt else.

We are off to Kalamaki end of September. Must have been to Zante about 15 times. Beautiful island. Can't wait.
20 years since I was last in Zante, been looking for weeks for something last minute and the Jet 2 flight although it’s an early one going out, coming back is spot on.

Can’t wait either, desperately need to chill.

Heading over there at the back end of this month.

Any recommendations for decent bars and restaurants?

Staying at the Oro hotel which looks to be on the outskirts of town.
Don't know that hotel. Loads of tavernas bars and restaurants. Look these up To Palouki, The Bourtzi cafe, Pyrofani, Lynhari, Hellinikon in town for meals.
Sea U, 7 Sins, Ginfish in town for drinks.
Thessaloniki taverna at megali ammos beach for lazy lunch.
Blind Dog and Totem in town for live music.

food here was always toppa, traditional greek bait

the harbour is always busy but the better bars and restaurants are in the back streets away from the harbour IMO
We are looking for a last minute honeymoon probably late September on one of the islands.

Any ideas oh wise SMB

I've never been to the islands

EDIT: Just had a brief look at Skiathos based on this thread, stunning.
Late Sep the weather may well be changing mind

Cheers, both.

Will make a concerted effort to try all of those.

What's it like price-wise?

Sunbeds 20 euros a pair. We spent about £160 a day. We had lunch every day and only ate out 3 nights out of the 7. Gyros are cheap as chips. On the harbour large beer 5 euros glass of wine 3.5 euros in the places we use. Monitor 10 euros

She said its almost decent all year round, the islands and Cyprus currently front runners.

In Crete now, beautiful place. Landed yesterday. Mythos going down
Big shout for Koutafelari in Crete, went in June, very nice indeed, currently in Dalyan in Turkey, 40plus degrees and full of scroates, saw our new home shirt last night for sale in town for 8quid..canny copy anarl
Dalyan is class. Favourite place in Turkey. It’s the flight times that have put us off. Hence why we’re in Crete
