I’ve been there for the day, but it does seem quiet (soz).
A taxi into Chania might be about 45 minutes, but head for the harbour for bars and eating.
If your in Georgoupili, Rethymon is actually closer and looks like it will be good on a night time (we’ve only been there by day)
Ask any questions as I’d hate to think you didn’t enjoy yourselves due to not knowing where to go

We stayed just along from Chania probs about 2 or 3 miles along the coast , nice beaches & you are correct the fish do bite the little bastards , like tiny piranhasAye Chania is nice on an evening , beach is bit poor though and the fish bite ya

Thank you , I’m really looking forward to getting there. The apartments are quite close to the beach and apparently a bus stop is nearby.Sorry, but I’m not familiar with them.
Once you’re in Agia Marina, the best bar is Divino’s - right next to the petrol station.
A few others, if you want football or a quiet night.
Loads of good places to eat and I’m happy to recommend some.
Bus into Chania is €3 each way and run until midnight. The harbour area is great, but look further afield as well. Again, happy to give you some suggestions.
Platanias is the place for younger, nightlife. It’s virtually joined on to Agia - a 10 minute walk away.
It will be hot. We went late April this time because it gets high 30s about now.

Cheers, im sure we’ll enjoy it regardless. We normally do a “walking” weekend in the lakes/peak. This year one of the lads found a cheap weekend and with the Uk weather, thought let’s head off instead.I’ve been there for the day, but it does seem quiet (soz).

It’s not like we are 18/19 needing Malia busy, but not quite in the bingo and stopping in crowd yet!

No problem.
The bus stops are all on the one road and it’s cheap enough.
Buses are frequent into Chania itself.
There are loads of good restaurants, in Agia, if you like to eat out.
Lottos, Rustic Garden, Aletri, Neiraida, Romantica, Kassandra, to name a few.
Lottos is one the main strip, the rest are just off, in the vicinity of the petrol station. Shout up if you can’t find something you are looking for, but just remember (Lottos apart) that the best food isn’t always at the restaurant with the best position !
Enjoy it - it’s a lovely, relaxing holiday
A Cretan tradition is to give you a free dessert and a small jug of raki at the end of your meal.
Enjoy the dessert, but some of the raki can be a bit harsh - it helps dissolve your food and probably your intestines

We went to Kefalonia last year and I`m still not sure what to make of it 
We were on the less busy side near Lixouri and whilst it was good and you could get the ferry over to Argostoli for a couple of quid , I think it was too quiet for me. Beautiful scenery but I need a bit more going on and over there it was a little too quiet and serene for my liking.
Been to Rhodes, Corfu, Crete, Zante over the years and I think if I was to pick a favourite I`d go for Rhodes although the beach is pretty crap near Rhodes Town. Zante had the best beaches iirc although the Kefalonia one was also good, was really nice orangey coloured sand

This is the only concern I have, and it's more to do with the other half. It was looking set on Kefalonia or Kos, with the former out in front. Then I got back from work last night and she's wondering if we should go somewhere "a bit more lively," contrary to everything we'd discussed and agreed upon before. Reading this thread whilst simultaneously scanning Jet2 as fancy Greece for next year for the 1st holiday for 20 years without kids. Only issue seems to be flight times.

Lassi is probably the one place in kefalonia where you would say there is a strip.
Mostly nice fishing villages.. half a dozen bars and a load of tavernas

Lassi and Skala are the only places where there is a degree of fry ups and sport on telly in bars etc.

We stayed in Skala it was lovely and yes we’d go back . However kefalonia has very little public transport and to get out and about it’s booking trips or hire a car , maybe staying in lassi gives you a bit more scope.
That suited us at the time but we’ve got to the point where we prefer exploring under our own steam after a couple of trips that were just awful . Having said that Skala itself had plenty of restaurants and bars, some nice walks and there was also boat trips to Ithaca done from skala beach .
Kos is a much smaller island and much easier to get around, we’ve stayed in Kefalos and Tigaki
I stayed in aghia effemia and had a hire car the whole ten days or so so managed to see pretty much the whole island on my terms and could get to the smaller stunning beaches

We’ve been to Lindos on Rhodes a few times and Kommeno Bay in Corfu and they’re both fantastic places to visit/stay. Just come back from a week in Paphos on Cyprus on Monday morning, hotter than average for the time of year at temperatures of 35 being the peak during our stay.
