Grauniad: Premier League preview: Sunderland

“After scoring six goals (all in the Conference League) in 16 first-team appearances for Chelsea Guiu arrives on a season’s loan. The talk in west London is that the former Barcelona forward could prove as good as Cole Palmer“

😂😂😂

Yes, that comment has provoked a couple of sarcastic replies.

Pretty damning depressing read but I suppose looking dispassionately what else can she write

Well she’s a supposed Sunderland fan who thinks we should share the stadium of the light with the mags when they build their new ground. Wouldn’t worry too much about what she has to say on our prospects one way or another if shes that out of touch
Bit nonplussed how anyone can say one of Leeds, burnley or brentford are better than us. Honestly believe brentford will finish below us.
Couldn’t the mags use Gateshead stadium instead

 cuckoo land stuff. Imagine the ill will that would generate.

I think it's fair to comment that there's a risk our team won't gel. It's not a bad summary of the challenge ahead for us, putting bias to one side.
Yeah I don’t see what the issue is

It’s easy to make a save for Leeds and Brentford being better, Burnley I think are the 1 team it’s easy to say we’re ahead of as things stand

This. I have no issue with people thinking we're going to get relegated. In fact I think we will myself.

I do, however, struggle to understand those predictions where we're below one, or both, of the other promoted teams with little justification of why. Take this one on the BBC. He's got us finishing 19th, saying we've signed too many and won't integrate etc. But Leeds are 17th "because one promoted team has to stay up" and ""Elland Road might do it for them".

It's not that they really like their signings more then ours, that they have quality in their squad, love Farke etc. it's down to their f***ing stadium apparently...

All three promoted clubs come up with squads far below the quality needed to stay up, and look to buy that quality. If in your predictions one is above the others, and especially if one is above a PL team, I think you should really be justifying why you think that's the case.
