Awful news this & such a shame as he still had a lot of years left.
As a lot have said on here already, he was my favourite player by an absolute mile.
Remember having £50 on him to be top England run scorer in that 93/94 ashes which came in.
He was a great player..
Just so sad this news.
Rip Thorpey lad 😥

Loved watching the man apart from his talent he was a tough guy who could dig in he was a rock at a time when England didn’t have many.
A real shame.
R.I.P.

Saw one of his best moments at OT when he got a great counter attacking 90odd against Walsh, Ambrose, Bishop and Benjamin.

Also saw his pair against the Saffers in '98 when English cricket was on its knees.

Fond memories of him holding the shambles together, regularly seeking out another hundred out of the tailenders.

A man who overcame his considerable demons to play international sport – and become one of our finest batsman of the last 30-odd years. Despite all the things he had to contend with, he was always the tough man you’d want coming in to dig England out of a hole.

I followed his career from an early age as a Surrey fan – in fact he was born just a few months before me in the same hospital in Farnham as me.

55. Man, no age. RIP dear Graham.

Absolutely gutted to hear this news today. I think it was Trent Bridge (we were proper lashed) that we spent all day cheering him on to a hundred.

Fantastic player. No age to go.

Can’t believe I missed this yesterday.
He was Englands best batsman in my opinion for the thick end of 10 years. A joy to watch.
My favourite batter of the 90s and early 00s.

RIP
