Why would any club help another earn more money which could be used to sign one of their own players or intended players?
Why would any fan want another club to earn extra money which could…….etc
From a selfish perspective of course these are the thoughts that cross the mind. It's also not a bad thing if a player or two are poached. It can provide a good offset, see e.g., Jode Bellingham and the signings Sunderland made this last summer.
How about national pride? Or more importantly, improved coefficient rankings to maximise the amount of allocated spots.

He got arrested for punching a DJ in Stockport. His daughter is married to Liam Byrne, a key member of Kinahans. He's been seen out with the Kinahan's on numerous occasions.
He's not on my Xmas card list. Didn't like him as a player, and he got off with that nightclub assault, despite it being on film. Bit of a thug on the field, on a par with Souness.
