Wouldn't have thought so, looks a pure box to box midfielder. Geertruida was the only natural fit for that role.

It was a bit tongue in cheek but Schalke want Aouchiche and it’s unclear whether Aberdeen are buying him from us to sell or we are selling him ourselves to Schalke.

Unfortunately for Geertruida if Liverpool have left this all too late for us to get what we need then he stays. They should have been making their move last December and not with days to go.

Wonder what Liverpool have offered RB?

Given they were willing to accept €20m from us and if Liverpool have offered, say, 30m then RB pay us 5m to break the loan and everybody wins

We're effectively losing a £30m player that would only cost us £17m. We paid a loan fee, so after everything that £5m is only £2.5m.

The only way this really benefits us is if we sign him for the £17m and clock all the profit ourselves.

Not the end of the world if he goes. It's crazy to think that, when everyone is fit, he doesn't get in our side but would be a starter at RB for Liverpool due to their injuries. Obligation to buy or not, hes not going to hang around here at his age if he's not getting a game. Shame like.

It'll end up being a return of the loan fee plus compensation if it goes through. It appears we've know of this for a while judging by his lack of game time recently and news may have broken because we are close to bringing someone in (hopefully).

Disappointing as his versatility is good for us but the Lad is going to choose Liverpool over us unfortunately.

Isn’t it more likely that’s the reason he wasn’t being played rather than the reason that he would want to leave? I don’t know. Could his parent club insist he not be risked?
