Yes - also that's what happened to Barrow and Workington who were voted out in the seventies. From what I understand, Gateshead had rarely applied for re-election before.

Gateshead (the town) is full of mags and mag sympathisers. If it wasn’t obvious enough generally then go to one of our pre season games there.

They even changed their kit to black and white
