Gateshead FC

Currently beating second place York, who have scored over 100 goals this season.

They are out of the drop zone and were miles behind not so long ago.

Cracking job done by the new management team. Big boost for them with massive lads fan Mark Beck back from injury and on the bench tonight too

Watched the match tonight, gateshead deserved theor lead, defended well, York didn't create much. Thought york would hammer them 3 or 4 nil

The thing is ,In the 60s or whenever it was , they got voted out of the league by 1 vote , guess who the Saudis voted to go out ? 🤣
What happened back then was you voted for a team to save. The Mags voted for Pools as they were owed money off a transfer that they wouldn’t have got if Pools had went out of the league. My dad was a Gateshead fanatic and never forgave the Mags. Gateshead folded and didnt have a team to watch so he started watching Sunderland and thats ultimately how I came a Sunderland supporter.
I’ve got the mags to thank 🤣

Gateshead received only 18 votes.
Oldham 39, Peterborough 35 ( elected , from the Midland League) , Pools 34 and Southport 29.
South Shields received 1 vote. They were one of 16 or 17 clubs that threw their hat into the ring.
Ps. I looked all this up on the Internet.
Gateshead were great. Hard to believe they lost 14 games in a row and are now out of the relegation zone
Blyth Spartans have done something similar, albeit in the Northern Premier league East.

Alot of the Siuthern clubs only voted them because of the distance and the money they would save not having to travel as far, the mags on the other hand..
