Gary Rowell funeral today.

I travelled over to Burnley from Blackpool and met an old SAFC/Burnley player ( Phil Malley) who I used to teach. He introduced me to all the players. Some I recognised . 3 I didn’t . Entwhistle/Henderson/Stronach.
McCoist was by far the friendliest and came across brilliantly..
Tears in the Crematorium when our anthem was played right at the end.
Elvis "Can't Help Falling In Love" ?

That sounds just like how McCoist was at Rob Hindmarch’s funeral.

I would like to think that several other former SAFC colleagues who aren’t in this picture would also have been present. For example, I would have thought that Shaun Elliott and Kevin Arnott might have been there?

Peter played in the same England Under 15’s boys team as Ray Wilkins.
Wilkins in his biography said Stronach was by far the best player in the team.
His injury problems began by his playing too much football as a kid. He was skilful enough to play at above his age level but was asked to play too frequently whilst still maturing physically.

Saw most of them play etc and I only recognised the least well known one (at first). Barry Dunne (the hair).
RIP Gary. There's only one Gary Rowell even if we all live in a Gary Rowell world.

Peter Stronach joined Tyne and Wear fire brigade after he was finished through injury. The Lord is on record saying Stronach was the most talented player he ever played with
I played against Stronach in the over 35's and he was as fit as fuck, I suppose you have to be if you're in the Fire brigade.
He was flying around after 80 minutes like it was the 1st minute

Remember watching my dad playing in a 5 a side tournament for fire brigade at light foot stadium about 45 years ago
George herd was playing for one of the other teams
He must of been about 45
He absolutely ran every game he played in without actually moving more than 10 yards from the centre spot

Having played loads with him on the Conqui with his talented brothers and Stubber and Scary, I would vouch for that. Had some canny tennis matches with him anarl when the park (Roker) was technically shut after hours. Good to see him looking so well.
