Gary Rowell funeral today.

Chris Turner looks really short, modern day goalkeepers are giants nowadays. Even Pickford who is pretty small in the current era is 6ft 1.

Turner looks about 5ft 10 ISH.

He was short even by 80s standards. Testament to his agility. Siddall was more typical in height, though perhaps a little more, er, heavily built.
There was a match where Barry had come out with a shirt that clashed with the opposition. He changed on the pitch. His chest was like an old mahogany wardrobe and I'd never seen so much hair on a chest. Loved him. We have a real tradition of great goalies. Why Camp etc. stand out more.

I saw all of those on the photograph grace the pitch at Roker Park. I seem to recall Stronach playing and then breaking a leg for the second time which was effectively a career ender.

Barry used to drink down at the Saltgrass Deptford on a Monday evening with a couple of players (?).
The Monday after the derby in which he saved a penalty against them(?) and sparked off a massive punch-up in the Roker End - my collar bone was damaged and my arm was put in a sling
- we were in the Saltgrass and he looked across the bar at me and one of my mates said "he blames you Barry for saving that pen but he's say's it was was worth it". He had a lovely smile!

I travelled over to Burnley from Blackpool and met an old SAFC/Burnley player ( Phil Malley) who I used to teach. He introduced me to all the players. Some I recognised . 3 I didn’t . Entwhistle/Henderson/Stronach.
McCoist was by far the friendliest and came across brilliantly..
Tears in the Crematorium when our anthem was played right at the end.
