Great to see a proper gadgee's garden!

Out of interest, what year would posters say Man City became generally considered as a proper top side? It only seems like yesterday since the awab mans took over but they've won two titles and moved to a new ground and built an academy in that time.
As i said, it seems like yesterday.

Defended the lad from unjustified criticism as a young Sunderland player being blooded in the harshest environment possible. These amateurs and failures sitting in judgement would've crushed his confidence if allowed.
I support and encourage every Sunderland player, especially those just learning the ropes.
Says the fella who unjustifiably criticises Henderson.

You've never seen me criticise Henderson. I supported him EVERY game he played for us.
I merely point out areas in his game that could be improved to make him a truly top player. He's already a good player who occasionally puts in the odd very good performance. That is high praise from me.
I judge the top players against the best, that's why Henderson falls slightly short, he's still good though.

Which poor performances? Any as bad as Cattermole against Hull, Aston Villa, Southampton etc etc??

Wait a second, norwich away blah blah, substituted with Ki by clownshoe blah blah, cost us the game blah blah!!
There we go. You can't even acknowledge his poor performances. You have to bring other players in to it. It's very sad.

Only messing marra. Despite the Kevin Arnott's wonder goal incident ;)

I'd love to see the goal again, even with pixels the size of binlids!:) I remember it being a good goal but for some reason i might've been distracted on the day and didn't see it all unfold.
Strangely, i do seem to remember Tommy Craig's shot which if i remember rightly was low to the keeper's right at the Roker End.
I remember going home a bit disappointed but it was a great game and to be fair to newcastle i think it was the most away fans i've seen at Sunderland. We got into an incident near the old abattoir on the way home which is another story!!

I wonder if the daft bastard still thinks there isn't much between them?
Not a lot in real terms. Plenty of hype though but you expect that with players at top clubs. It's easy enough for those who know what they're looking at to see through though.

Your I'm a pro' routine is pathetic mate. You're making yourself look silly.
I'm not a professional, i'm an ex-professional. Even a fool would understand that someone who made it in sport probably knows more than someone who didn't.
I wouldn't get a footballer to tile my bathroom, fix a leaking pipe, fit a plug socket, repair my roof, replace the head gasket on my car. Why would you expect any of these tradesmen to know more about sport??

So because you used to play professional sport you know more than those who didn't?

On a percentage basis that is an absolute f*cking certainty.
How you could possibly think otherwise is truly f*cking mind boggling. In fact i don't think you do, i'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you've just got a bit carried away with the banter.

So given that, why do so many ex players fail at coaching and management? Why do a lot of them talk utter shit as pundits? And how can an interpreter can become one of the greatest coaches of all time?

'Kick and rush' 'can't dribble' are two silly criticisms of him.

Mind you saying in a thread that you are 'bashing henderson' proves that your first sentence in the above post is bullshit.

Eh Piston was an ex-professional footballer?

On a percentage basis, how many interpreters with no football experience have become great coaches? Out of interest, how did he get the job in the first place? Did he just bowl up to the training ground with a "phrase book" or had he been involved in football previously?
The reason so many ex players/professionals fail is because other ex players/professionals are better at the job, not amateurs. There is a finite number of places in management so generally speaking the best rise to the top and the remainder go the journey.

Must be tough for you having to post amongst the mere mortal amateurs on this board @PISTON. Lowly, ill-informed opinions with no inside knowledge. Not sure why you bother? Maybe you shouldn't.

If you read my posting history the term "kick and rush" came from an ex professional footballer who i went to the match with, it was a liverpool game at the SOL and i got two tickets very kindly off a person on the forum.
I hadn't really noticed it but this fella had Henderson completely sussed and predicted his every move on the pitch. To be brutally honest he taught me a lesson as before the game i largely had the same view as yourself. Maybe not view as i obviously hadn't studied closely enough, maybe i had the same impression as you would describe it better.
Henderson doesn't really dribble as such with the ball in close control, he generally kicks it past a player and tries to out muscle him to the next touch. Watch a player like Steed or Suarez to get an idea of the difference.

By the way, as a workhorse Henderson is very good. He could play that role in a number of teams as he works very hard and no doubts he's a good professional and role model. I fear for him after reading about his foot problem. I played for a year or two carrying an ailment and nobody gives you any sympathy or mercy, its dog eat dog. A different injury finally saw me off but i was near the end anyway so that was that. The surgeon said i could've carried on but next time there'd be nothing he could do so he left it up to me, and here i am!!:):):)

Henderson and Colback are f***ing miles apart, laughable to suggest they're anything other than chalk and cheese.

Let's compare some of the facts. We sold Henderson for £16M but we decided against negotiating a new contract with Colback until he was well into his last year. We just didn't value him highly and rightly so.

Henderson is a driving force and captain of a top 6 side. Only West Ham and Newcastle, mid table to bottom half sides showed any interest in Colback for free!

Henderson has scored 17 goals and has many assists at Liverpool. Colback hasn't scored a dozen goals in his whole career.

Henderson is a regular England international, Colback was picked for an injury hit squad once.

Aye the similarities are there for all to see :)
