FTEB/Yorkshire/Punishment/Fixtures

Yorkshire are getting off very lightly here. If they had been open, transparent and honest with regard to the Rafiq allegations (and findings) then I don't think there'd be too much of an issue... but they weren't. Their behaviour was utterly disgraceful. Deliberately lying, delaying, obfuscating and acting like an old boys network, covering one another's backs until they had absolutely nowhere else to turn but to confess and that's the key point for me.

Yes there are new people in charge now, and so there should be, but this was an opportunity to send a message throughout cricket in this country that racism won't be tolerated by hitting Yorkshire in the only place it hurts those up top, in the pocket, with the removal of test cricket (for a calendar year imo).

Think Botham has to have a go at the ECB for the long lasting punishment we are still under from their harsh treatment (and lenient treatment of every one else guilty of the same crime), where as Yorkshire for quite a serious thing just get a little tickle and a happy ending

So apart from a small inconvenience of not being able to sell Test Match tickets for a couple of months, what punishment have they had ?

Meanwhile, Durham are still banned for a financial breach, from which they might actually have recovered if they were allowed to stage a Test Match.

FInances are deemed more important the blatant racism ........

Absolutely shite decision by the ECB

I have to admit this has been a thoroughly depressing sporting year so far, but this week has plunged to new depths. I’ve pretty much given up watching England play cricket these days, as they appear to hand out a cap to anyone and treat test match cricket like a trial for the other forms. I don’t bother with the pyjama stuff, let alone FTECB’s monster.
This just caps it all off.

Looks like Antigua will be my last game of cricket for a while, and I'm only going there for the tour craic. Losing interest rapidly and found other things I'd like to do with a good bunch of people tbh

So just to clarify, Yorkshire’s punishment for the racism scandal was being banned from hosting cricket matches in the winter when no matches were scheduled to be played anyway. Meanwhile several years ago us at Durham got absolutely shafted by the ECB for doing what the ECB told us to do with finances & we are still feeling those punishments now & still can't host test matches............ It seems racism is perfectly acceptable within the ECB. It just doesn't sit well having watched us struggle for years, then the authorities basically go very easy on a far far worse offence. The ECB have basically said racism is fine and any other counties every found guilty or similar, will be fine.

Right, got it............ FTECB

Agree with most of what you say but Durham under the leadership of Leach started spending money they never had on salaries and ended up with a bloated squad they couldn't afford. They have to take responsibility for that especially Leach.

Back at that time even before this happened I was very critical of David Harker so on the whole we did have to accept some responsibility and punishments but it was hard to accept the severity of it. I'm hearing that taking test matches off Yorkshire would finish them off...... Erm.... Well if that's the case then their finances need looking into as they're clearly financially in bother.... Will they though??? Of course not. Durham were shafted and my understanding is we still can't host test matches yet Yorkshire got a winter ban when cricket isn't played for a massive racism scandal. It's very poor all round but as a Durham fan I'm livid at the comparisons. The ECB have basically given the green light to allow racism within the game. The scandal at Yorkshire was deep rooted and appalling.... No punishment from the ECB. Just says to me they're content for it to carry on
