I gave up my season ticket in the summer gone after 14 years.
So far I've been to every cup game. At £10, £10, £15 & have a ticket for Chelsea for £10 (Buying at the same time as my father's season ticket).
I got a letter from the club, inviting me to come to the Liverpool home game with the hope I would purchase a 15-game season ticket, so £0
Newcastle at home I paid £38
Chelsea the other night I paid £10. (Again buying with the aid of my father's season ticket).

By Christmas I'll have been to 7 home games, sat in my "own" seat for all but the Liverpool game and spent £93 (£13.29/game)

Got to be honest I've still had my fix, and I feel like I've got good value for money.

Flipside to this story is I also got a season ticket at Hartlepool for £150...

I am considering sacking off my ST next year and completing a season of going to each game through the cheaper methods. Going to keep a detailed account of where, when and how much I get tickets for. Could be an interesting study if completed accurately.

After 21 years having a season ticket I decided to give mine up last season - lads changing jobs, moving away etc helped with the decision. I went to 16 out of the 19 league games and was offered free tickets for the other 3 - I paid £74 quid all season.

all valid points but should we get to Wembley (yeah, I know) there will be much gnashing of teeth on here from people without a ST saying they can't get a ticket

It's not fair, he got something I want! Sounds like jealousy to me. Can't say it bothers me, I'd pay and go regardless of what others pay if I consider it a fair and reasonable price, then again I'm not a particularly jealous person.
I know where you are coming from, but you have to see why other people have an issue with it. I don't mind discounted tickets for certain groups such as school children, students etc but free tickets is wrong.

In post #35 I mention there isn't even anything on the safcstore.com website. If it isn't on there it is not anywhere. It IS the website for the club shop.

rang the club shop just now. they said the free tickets are only available on production of a valid 'i am a tosser' ID card.

The club are at a point of no return now regards free tickets and discounted tickets, if they stopped all the deals now the crowds would drop to around 32k I would imagine.
One or two deals a season seemed to work well, its every f***ing game now FFS.
Only reason to buy a SC now is to gather loyalty points IMHO.
A lot of fans will be thinking long and hard when it comes to renewel time, I don't want owt for nowt but SAFC have ruined the product by making silly mistakes in the transfer market and management decisions, now we have a ticket debacle.

Pretty sure a load of ex season ticket holders were sent out a ticket for that match like, i remember people moaning about it on here at the time!

You think they're dishing out c.8,000 tickets a game?!

Made up by a mag. Something posted on facebook and on here, but denied by SAFC, nothing on the website and nothing on the SAFC facebook page.
Oh

Well that's a shame, cos it's a decent initiative with Christmas coming up. They can sell their shite training shirts which'll cost £2 to make, get people through the door & the bairns get decent crimbo presents. Students can fuck off though, free tickets man.

Good point, although many, including myself, will renew anyway although I can see why many would not.

Ther club really has to get a grip on this issue. They need to be far more transparent in communicating the number of free and discounted tickets per game and perhaps re-look at the criteria and justification for this.

No idea. Information isn't even on the safcstore.com website.

My dad went for some guitar strings in that music shop in Tavistock Buildings and we then went to the club shop where he could buy something to put away for Christmas. You don't know till you get to the checkout when the cashier asks you if you want 2 free tickets to either the Southampton or Stoke game.
So when I phoned up the club shop and asked about this deal, and she said it doesn't exist, then she was lying?

Don't forget we have played some of the bigger teams at home who have sold around 2500 tickets, then the fact that we are going to be playing lesser opposition. Add to this its a bad time around and after Xmas.
Based on this I would imagine we would struggle to get 32k. IIRC we have sold 33k ish for the morra?
Glamour game and loads of freebies knocking about (so they say)

It is on TV mind. I agree though, I do think we'll have quite a few attendances sub £35k in the second half of the season, freebies or not.

Loyalty points mean nowt the majority who hardly go to away matches.

Are you getting a season ticket when you move to Malta?
