Franklin Out!!!

Just when you think you have seen it all this season, we go and out do ourselves with yet another embarrassing, spineless, inept and cowardly performance selecting the same failing shite who have seen us win 3 games in 10.

It’s beyond belief that Bushnell was dropped for this game, again it just reiterates my view that Franklin doesn’t believe in the youth/academy players. We pulled a lad out of an NEPL game yesterday who didn’t play today also, yet we are fielding players on loan from Kent and Middlesex and using our red ball wicketkeeper as an outfield player….. what message does that send out to younger players who will be desperate for a chance?? Why should these lads stay at Durham under this regime? As I said on Friday, Bushnell was merely thrown in for the sake of it on Friday, he never bowled and batted at 9, and absolute insult to the lad. A young aspiring cricketer needs to stay away from Durham and go elsewhere, never thought I'd think that way but it's crystal clear it would be sound advice at present.

Today just the same old shit really, same failing batting line up, same failing outcome. 3 wins in 10….. simply not good enough. 1 win in 8 in the red ball cricket……. Simply not good enough. How much worse does it have to get before the club act?

Franklin and North both need to go, they are offering nothing positive, it’s a results business and the comments on social media speak volumes. Why do these two never speak to the media after games? Why are the club not offering any members forums? Before these two started to ruin the club, members were given several members forum evenings, now we have the pie & peas at the end of September………. Embarrassing and shows a real disconnection between members and the club. You then have that idiot Harmison tweeting "nice to be back and the club are going in right direction" - this is a fella who couldn't be arsed for several years at the club during his last contract and was rarely seen and is rarely seen nowadays, he's off his tits with those comments. Ironically "liked" by the club, says it all really how massively out of touch the club are at the moment on and off the field, it's frightening.... still make sure you buy your Diana Ross tickets and £50 hoodies.

I can’t for my life fathom out our T20 tactics, the batting line up is absolutely embarrassing, a clear case of picking lots half an hour before the start, it’s beyond embarrassing

Ironically Leicester fielded a lad today aged 17 and he played well………. Compare that to our “head lead coach” or whatever his title is, our promising young lad is thrown in for the sake of it on Friday, didn’t bowl, batted at 9, then dropped today, to carry the drinks around whilst the senior failures continue to fail.........

Now going forward I’d like to see the young players given an opportunity, I’m now aware we have a home game vs Yorkshire tomorrow in Richmond (I mean that just about sums the club up really), so be interesting to see who plays as we have T20 on Thursday away, then back home Friday followed by another 2nd XI 4 day home game in Yorkshire.

The next county championship game is on July 11th. We have a slim chance of doing something in the county championship. When do we start and look at “resting” some of our 1st team red ball lads such as Ben Raine (my player of the season so far)? Eckersley serves no purpose in the T20, so again is it worth wrapping him up in cotton wool ready for the red ball restart?. Time to saw the likes of Drissell, Mcalindon, Doneathy, Bushnell in the T20 squad, I’d expect them to feature in the One Day Cup, so surely it makes sense to give them some white ball game time now as currently there are no T20 2nd XI games now.

This season so far has been an absolute disgrace. Franklin and North are responsible for this.

Franklin should do the honourable thing and resign, if not then Bostock/Botham need to get their fingers out and sack Franklin and North, they serve no purpose to Durham Cricket Club. I don’t expect Durham to be world beaters but I expect than the below results since Franklin was brought in.

In the interim I’d promote Alan Walker and Gidman until the end of the season or we could ask Diana Ross if she fancies a coaching role?

A lot wrong on and off the field at the moment. It’s embarrassing watching us in the T20 and the red ball table speaks for itself, along with the appalling condition of the wickets produced this season.

Thank goodness I’m missing the game on Friday.

And I thought Kent CCC were having a poor season ;)

it just reiterates my view that Franklin doesn’t believe in the youth/academy players.

How many youth/academy players have been given their debut in the Senior side since Franklin came in?

Durham CCC have a tremendous record of blooding youngsters into the senior ranks. That hasn’t changed during Franklin’s tenure.

I agree his time is up, but there’s plenty to criticise him for without making things up.

i can think of gibson & bushnell. possibly doneathy & campbell although they may have been under walker as it was cup games.

has crawshaw played for us yet? if so that may be another.

i'd happily be shot of both of them, can't see north getting the bullet but ideally aye both of them go. Walker till the end of the season then reassess.

hopefully then we can stop going to south north anarl, and can anyone answer why the hell we're playing in richmond?
That Richmond thing is bizarre. Can only assume none of the other local clubs want to host us and our ground is been used by Diana Ross. Nice ground Richmond but utterly ridiculous to host 2x home Durham games

Crawshaw played 1 T20 last year, he's currently injured.
As regards the CC which most followers regards as the most reliable indicator of potential.
Since Franklin came into the club in 2019, Academy debutante have been
Campbell 1 game ,since left the club
Bell 1 game, since left the club
S Steel 2 or 3 games, since left the club
Bushnell 1 game
Gibson 2 games + 1 concussion substitute
A total of 9 appearances over a period a 4 years.

several grounds have shown interest in the past but been scared off by the amount of money dccc wanted for the privilege.. absolute shambles. so sick of watching this lot shitting on the history of durham county cc

i'd assumed scott steel predated franklin tbh. and played mostly t20, not playing in 4 day cricket will have played a huge factor in him leaving.

Played 3 T20’s last season.

Doneathy and Campbell also played in the 2021 T20 campaign.

George Drissell
Sol Bell
Michael Jones - was given his debut prior to Franklin (2018) but has become a regular member of the side in all formats during JF’s tenure.

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good agenda though.

Absolutely ridiculous man. Embarrassing what they did to Bushnell Friday and today mind.
Bring back John Lewis!
I'd have him who runs the high street store aye.

It’s factually correct. They don’t have to be any good - but of course if they’re not, it strengthens my point in any case.

The lad scored 8 runs at a run a ball didn’t he? Granted it isn’t enough to say either way, but he’s came in with no pressure in a no lose situation and dinked a few singles… Hardly banging the door down.
