Frank Lampard - manager rumours

Is he the right man for the job? Is he the manager/coach we wanted or needed...probably not, but I think when you look back at his record at Derby (massive FFP constraints) and his first stint at Chelsea (transfer ban) he didn't do too badly!

If i'm clutching for positives, he will have some great contacts so this transfer window could be interesting and if players like Neil and Rigg do have ambitions to be top class midfielders, surely playing for one of the best English midfielders in recent years is enough to keep them at the club.

Who am I kidding...we'll be unveiling Dodds won't we?
Now that would be earth shatteringly funny! in every senses of the word!.....does it make me a bad person that just for a split second i wanted that to be true?

Hope so but doubt it. Not without a head coach in place.
The club will be looking for someone who can develop our young squad but if I was Rigg I’d be wanting a positive sit down with the new HC before committing.

Probably because the bookies are running out of names of blokes that haven’t already turned us down !

There is only one entity who has made anything so far out of this whole charade, it is the bookies. They've collected already on all the bets made on Still, Rosenior, plus all of the other rejected applicants.

They only have to eventually pay out on one 'winner' and that could be a complete unknown and not one bet made.
But there's no way he would keep his demands at that level - it's not like once you hit a wage you stay at it forever regardless of level you manage at.

Graham Potter disagrees with this idea..... ££ 😉

It’s not more pressurised. It does create more stress.

The expectation of most managers of 75% in the PL is survival or stepping stone to a bigger job. Where if you stay in a job for longer than two seasons they start taking statues.

The Sunderland job is a poison chalice simply by walking through the door you are risking your career, look at where the string of managers that have left us ended up - no one goes on to better things. Some can’t even get another halfway decent job or even a job!

Whether it’s the sleeping giant expectations, the fanbase size, the total immersion of the club into life, society down to the very fabric of people I don’t know.

Bu clearly something about being SAFC manager kills the spirit, confidence and resilience of previously well regarded managers. The proof is there.
not disagreeing with what your saying per se, but other than fan base size which is quantifiably true, almost every fan will be saying the exact same thing

The idea of him rejecting a contract indicates most people seem to think our idiots in charge have the foresight and wherewithal to have started and pursued contract negotiations.

Quite an optimistic take, considering there every move for the last two years has been very "let's sort it out later".

Imagine him giving punditry talks on us ffs.

“I fink Dan Neil is a triffic player. Absolutely triffic. You know, I fink Frank has a load of triffic players there.”
We could use some "savviness" at the club mind. lord know's we're naive as fuck

and nah this is not me advocating for a role for arry

Calm down lads, Speakman doesn't run in Lampard circles he won't even have his number.
You only have to look at the names that's been mentioned there all b+c not A listers.
Id take him by the way.

I would imagine if he wasn’t going to sign then he’d already have been reported he was signing for x club. That could just be me being an optimist mind.

'Hi Chris, fancy staying here? We've no gaffa and won't invest in the playing side of the club. Forget your boyhood club and man utd, what could they possibly offer you?'
In a nuthsell, but dont forget......

Speakshit: "we've also got Jobe who has to play every game in your favoured position so you'll be played out of position if you are going to get a game".

Riggaldo "Cheers, Kristian, where do i sign?"

IMO you need a manger that the fans are going to get right behind and lift the team.
I know I’ve mentioned this a few times but if Keane came in.. he would lift the place. The fans would get right behind the team and Keane and we’d do well.

I honestly think the manager is absolutely crucial to our club. We need a very strong and influential character to drag us up.

Can lampard be that person? Not sure

If the fans aren’t excited it’s going to be a struggle IMO. It’s then relying on the team to produce to lift the fans and based on the end of last season that won’t happen without major recruitment
