Think this is right .. I'm sure someone will correct it is not so ...Has a team ever been relegated while playing in Europe?
From the bookies point of view it is reasonable. They don’t apply anything other than data. XG + additional games will, to their market setters, be the ideal scenario for a tough season. It is only what they set out as their opening position. Market forces will drive the changes thereafter. One plus to bear in mind. This offers potential to get a far meatier price to stay up.Ok I know we have the extra European games to deal with and apparently our XG says we shouldn’t have finished where we did but surely it’s a bit harsh to have us fourth favourites (only above the promoted teams) for relegation.
I’m sure Ghisolfi and the Board will have plans in place to cope.
Yes. Once. Years ago. Question was answered on a previous thread. I can’t recall who it was though.Has a team ever been relegated while playing in Europe?
With 4th favourites for relegation I think top half should be good odds. Ipswich are 3rd favourites for relegation and they are 18:1 for top half. Can only find top half finish odds for Hill, Coventry and Ipswich at the moment.Odds will be crap for that I'd imagine
The question was asked on either the guardians website or the athletics one recently. Ipswich was one of the two answers but it was back in the 80s iirc.. I don’t think they even counted the inter toto.Think this is right .. I'm sure someone will correct it is not so ...
not recently .. looks like Ipswich 2001/2 in UEFA cup, as well as Bradford 2000/01 Intertoto cup same season as relegated and also Blackburn Rovers in the season 1998/99 in UEFA cup and relegated .
Edit Ipswich was the season after relegation so in Division 2 ???
Because I feel offended marra, disrespectful of Régis and the Lads. Why does anyone care?![]()
Xhaka has had pretty much an injury free career. The spell he had out last season was probably his biggest time out injured ever.If Xhaka were to sustain a serious injury that kept him out most of season ( he is going to the toughest competition in world football in 2 weeks time ) I have no doubt 4 th favourites for the drop would be optimistic
We look awful without him
Bookies will make their money on the Jawdee Nation getting on the bar codes and against usI'm confident the outcome of all this will be riches for us and austerity for the bookies - who'll need to trade their genuine sheepskin coats for a cut-price hoodie.
Any idea of the odds finishing in top half next season?Quite a few made decent money on us finishing top half of the league this season and I dare say there’ll be more to be made next season with a similar bet.
You can hear the same pundits now “second season syndrome, Europe to contend with, they won’t be a surprise package” etc etc etc.
We’ve proved them wrong two seasons in a row now and we’ll do it again.
