Founders bar

This can not be right... someone must be reading something wrong. It doesn't make sense 🤷🏻‍♀️ twitter will bring light to it and may get you a resolution

I think the real kicker is your ticket was for BCB which they got rid of, they did.. in such circumstances they should have made all options open to you
I'm gonna e mail on Monday and find out.
They can f*ck off if I go to the back of the queue like after being in bcb for years

If you have a season ticket in Quinn’s for example and want to downgrade to a normal non premium season ticket then you will be going to the back of the non premium season ticket waiting list. I’ve heard this direct from an account manager.

I’ve renewed my Founders for £1432 not sure why it has VAT added as not really a proper hospitality package. Was tempted to cancel but was afraid of losing my seat.

That seems evil but in this particular case where the club removed the BCB they can't change the entire nature of what his ST is for and then hike the price up like that and not give him any options.

That seems double evil.

You’ve also got the issue that even if you had first dabs on normal season tickets that haven’t been renewed there’s no guarantee you can get 2/3/4 seats together and then more importantly where those seats are. I can’t imagine many from the vantage point of Quinn’s or 76 yards wanting to sit in the first few rows of the north east corner for example.

Spoke to a few people who can afford to stay in those areas but would rather not spend that amount of money. Clearly backed into a corner but there’s a balancing act that the club need to find. Not that that will keep everyone happy of course 🫠

Bit late to this one as have been away. Previously BCB (£725 2025/25 season), then forced to go to FB last season (£1000). Now £1435 which I can't afford and quite frankly isn't worth it if the ticket part of the package is only £750 or so (seats arent great, get effing soaked when it rains). Told by our AM that "its the back of the queue for you sonny" and conflicting advice from the Ticket Office. I'm just waiting for someone to tell me there's been a big mistake and of course a longstanding season ticket holder can downgrade without joing the queue with the "Johnny come latelys" but not confident. I don't consider myself a corporate fan, I'm just someone who is happy to pay a few quid more for a guaranteed seat/pint & reasonable access to toilets.
Same here. It’s funny to read that others have queried the same as I have because I was told “I am surprised to hear that because weve had such a high renewal rate in this suite”. Before I was told to join the back of the general admission queue.

It’s still mental to me that there’s going to perpetually be two premium founders seats in a block of GA ones.

That was what happened with BCB. They gave us first refusal but still loads left because groups who’d been going for years were broken up. Then we sit and watch our seats go unsold or sold at match day price to fill them because they can’t sell it out every week.

VAT applies to all tickets. It's just priced in in GA areas. To be honest, I'm not sure why it's shown separately in the Premium areas, as input VAT can't be reclaimed on entertainment expenses, nor are entertainment expenses allowable for corporation or Schedule D income tax.

The only way out of this would be for the club to class the Founders Club as an upgrade, not including a seat.

And conversely sell unused 76 and Banks etc seats on a match by match basis.

So at the minute it's pretty much boiling down to people being held hostage in corporate or lose their seat.
As the price rises come in there's always gonna be people that either can't afford it or don't think its value for money for them.
If anything the club over a season or two should be maybe relocating them or downgrading their seat to GA, upto the point they have to stop because of away allocation.

I see little point in pricing folk out of corporate but then also effectively tossing them out of the stadium as well, because generally the ones in bcb, quinns etc have always had season tickets for years, these aren't new supporters, they've been here during the lean years too, very short sighted

Thanks for explaining - I feel slightly better now about paying it!

Should still have the option to move though.. on way back from match
Should give us a seat just for watching that

Staff entertaining would be recoverable though

Any update on this outrageous behaviour from the club?

Only with very strict limits. In particular, any event has to be open to all employees. and there is a cost limit of £150/head. Even where it's allowable, it will probably be a taxable benefit for the employees.
There are not strict limits, entertainment for staff is wholly deemed to be for business purposes, exclusions if Directors or staff entertaining clients etc.
The £150 limit is an employee duty , benefit in kind rule. It’s nothing at all to do with VAT.

Say a business buys a box at SOL and they can demonstrate used by staff there wouldn’t be a block, at best HMRC may test that it’s actually employees and yes one possible way to corroborate would be possibly P11d’s etc.

The KPMG ruling on its dinner dance was a presentation I used in internal interviews maybe 20 years ago to demonstrate approach to apportionment

Yep, it would be more straightforward and make more sense if they sold Founder's entry as an upgrade to an existing season ticket, either for the season, a set series of matches, or even match by match depending on uptake. They might have more luck making it more exclusive by not allowing general entry after the game too.
